Default Any News Yet!!??

Hey fellow LOK gamers. I've been out of the loop until lately cause I've been waiting on someone down at Crystal to throw a bone or 2 in our direction about the up coming LOK installments. I was just wondering if anything has been said about it, other than speculation. Just worried I missed the bone. Has there been any new news about either SR3 or BO3 that any of you know? It wouldn't kill them or cost them their souls to give us something would it? lol

Most companies have pretty sever NDA's going when they're developing a product - I seriously doubt we're going to hear anything official until after the game shows up at E3.

This is just getting annoying now. I mean, everyone keeps saying that they don't care how long the game takes to mean as long as it's good and they wan CD to take all the time they need and not rush, but then everyone keeps bugging them to start telling about the game. At this rate, SR3 will take a total of 1 yr to make and take 3 hrs to beat. Let's just chill out and let them make the game. Should they get to the point that they are ready to tell us about the game, they will. This post may not sit well with many people, but I don't care, I'm getting seriously sick of this topic coming up again and again.

I'm not asking them to hurry up. I'm asking to show not what they have done nor what they intent to do. A progress report maybe? A estimated release date other then ToBeAnnounced would be nice that way I at least sleep at night instead of having nightmares about being 30 and just then actually playing SR3 for the first time. We all know how CD is about release dates to I would ask them to at least set a season of the year in which it is to be released. Or just maybe a screenshot of whatever they have or are working on. Or just a clue to the storyline. I'm waiting for bones, not chickens.

Release date=deadlines=last minute rush

They are working on the game. That's all we need to know. They'll finish when they finish. Everyone asking all the time shows impatience, and I know what the forums were like before sr2 came out-and look how that turned out- kinda short, to be continued, bugs, more cut materials, etc.

Do you really want them to rush again? Didn't think so. So just chill out and they'll give us info when it's time and the stuff is ready. That's it and I strongly suggest everyone just drop the subject as all asking is gonna do is

a) ruin suprism/story/game

b)sound like whining

c)get hopes up for things that may not stay constant as nothing has been finalized for in sr3 (though this would at least keep blinc in business. )

As was part of the title and body of a Com Caht thread "Patience pays off/ patience is a virtue". Now let's all give the subject a loooooooong break so that it can rest in peace and Cd can get back to making the game.

I honestly can`t make myself believe that SR2`s releasedate was rushed because some fans in a forum asked about the game. Don`t you think it has more to do with production costs? The team members needs salarys too.
I think that, unfortunately very few gamecompanies can keep a game in development as long as they really want, to make it perfect due to this. And if you remember, they started developing SR2 for the PSX and then moved it to the PS2. That surely took away some developing time.
I also believe that cut materials and changes is a part of the developing progress of all games. Not only the Legacy of Kain series.
And for SR2 being short; Yes it was kind of, but aren`t all games today shorter than they used to be?

I think that there is more then a slight chance it was rushed towards the release date. You think about, people posting in forums, comments get back to the company. People constantly asking at games stores, comments get passed along by unhappy games stores.

Huge pressure on game company to release game, game gets cut to make it look finished.

That is the way I think about it, so let information come out in it's own time, I'm sure the developers have more then enough to do without having to circulate information which will pressurise them into a release date which is unlikly to be kept.

While SR2 may have been slightly rushed, (and I'm not saying rush SR3) I am perfectly happy w/ the way it turned out. It's my fav of the series thus far, closely followed by BO, then SR and BO2.

I am still standing firm behind my notion of a late 2003 - early 2004 release.

Cool

I have absolutely no knowlege to back this up but I'm gonna go ahead and say it'll be out by 2003, simply because they now have a grasp at what they are working w/ and what the PS2 can do. I believe they will try and push it more(to it's limits) than the previous installments, too. Again, only my opinion, but I think the only thing that will take long is tying up all loose ends or just making sure they have covered every angle in the story.

<personal opinion> I figure once it hits the next E3, then it will be ready for the final editing touches (to be done over the next few months) and we can expect it on store shelves around November-ish.</personal opinion>

I have been sticking to this for a long time.

Thanks, Embla!

I really can't think of any other reason why it was held back last year's E3, other than the CD family didnt want to give too many hopes up (theirs and ours) and then have to restructure a lot of the game elements. (Story/areas/graphics etc.).

I think it also provides a lot of insight to the corporate *hush hush* and lack of information regarding the next installment.

Overall I can also speculate where this benefits CD:

1. Less focus on major game mishaps after-the-fact and last minute. (This points back to the restructuring, much like removing areas that just don't prove functional or whatnot).

2. Whatever mishaps they do catch are hopefully so minor that it won't take long to fix them.

3. More focus on how the technology of the PS2 is used to the fullest possible extent.

4. More focus on how the game actually plays, and how good the story is.

The Bottom Line: Less hassles for CD, more game for our money!

I know this has been said before, but I'll say it too. I just don't want CD to rush this one. I hope that CD will have the time they need to do what they want so that SR3 will be the crowning glory to the SR series.

Aaand... ditto to the "don't rush them" chorus.

Even something like setting a season is a bad idea. SR2 was originally slated for Summer 2001; then got pushed back. And given that I know for a fact that CD reads these forums, I can't help but believe that the cacophony of whining about that change had at least some influence in the slice-and-dice. (Unless it was deliberate that three forges etc. got whacked... which is I suppose entirely possible. Was it getting to be too much for one disc?) Would it be nice to hear something? Sure, we'd all like that. A screenshot or two to whet our appetites? Or even some concept art? If they're ready, yeah. Or if CD wants to release them - they're being pretty secretive, which is nifty. I don't want to know too much - I want to be awed all over again... Even setting a release season might induce a perceived need to rush and get it done. No, no - let them take as much time as they need, and then when it's almost ready to go (like 'we're writing the manual now') then tell us when it hits the shelves; until then, don't worry about it - it's coming, and that's all that really matters...

I agree...but maybe they can release info just a little sooner than 'we're writing the manual now.' Maybe 'we're programming the final boss' would be better.

I think I would like to be completely in the dark about this game, other then the title, so I can know what exactly to call my pre-order. SR2 was spoiled a bit for me--pre-release info showed the entire cast(even Janos' appearance was hinted at in the pre-release stuff), gave us the main story line, spoiled the environments, and mainly gave the impression the game was going to be grander then it was...Keep me in the dark, I say---We already know most of the cast of SR2 will be seen again in the next installment, we already know it's the same game engine at work, and we will probably even be re-visting areas of SR2, yet again.
The only time deadline I would like to see for the next installment, is "Release before PS3".

I managed to be completely surprised by SR2 and BO2 both. Warp warned me not to read the credits part of BO2's manual so I didn't know Janos was in that one beforehand, even.

Well in OPM they did say that it will be released this year, and I'm gonna guess that it will release this summer.

E3 is in late spring - early summerish. Your speculation won't provide enough time to work all the kinks out, IMO.

OPM (and most other magazines) also *officially* (not just in rumours) said that SR1 would be out something like a year earlier than it actually was.

IMO there is *no way* SR3 will be released before fall of 2003.

I see, guess I thought that E3 was sooner than that. Well I was just hoping that it would be soon, all the games I have are getting boring (I don't have any LoK games mind you, I only rent them) and I need something to do I love games with these huge plot lines like this, and this is probably the only game seires with a more complicated plot than a Final Fantasy game.
