Question Very tough question for the programmers!!!

How difficult and how time consuming would it be to allow custom soundtracks on the PS3 version of the game?

A lot of people want this! I started a poll HERE please sign yes if you want this too.
Mycoldman told everybody the latest build doesn't allow custom soundtracks throught the XMB on this topic!

We, the gamers want this to be in the game, in other words, we want to access the music player in the XMB while playing Just Cause 2!

Please o please let us play our own music on the PS3 version while playing Just Cause 2.
(ofcourse most of us will use this after we completed the game and are just roaming Panau)

PS: I do not want any forum members being smart***es and say stupid stuff. This question is for the devs to answer either here or in a podcast.

Take it or leave it

As much as I respect this, and I am not posting here to annoy you - but even if they did want to do this, it would involve a considerable delay. Its not like they have time to do this, the release date is pretty solidly set now and it adheres to the timeframe of whichever areas they have left to work on. Delaying it to add this would be time consuming. Its also likely that in doing this, only the PS3 version of the game would be delayed which would considerably annoy PS3 gamers who weren't interested in this feature.

Also, many Xbox 360 gamers would have loved the ability to record in-game, like the PS3 can, but we missed out on this. It appears as though both console versions miss out on at least 1 feature each.

Not posting here to debate with you, only trying to give you another perspective. Merry Christmas

@ Poor Bison, well I understand what you're getting at, but I do believe the capture option is something microsoft doesn't allow, they don't allow gamers to record game footage to their HDD.

In the case of the PS3 Sony does allow this kind of stuff and also allows gamers to upload them, that is why Avalanche studios tapped into that and made it a nice feature.

I do understand you, it's just that I really want to be able to listen to my music from the same source that I'm gaming with, it's better that way.

And I wouldn't want a delay either it's just that I want that feature, I'm also fine with it being released in a nice patch after release, get me ?

I don't want a delay of any sort!

Well, just like Sony allow video capture and Microsoft don't, Microsoft allows you to play songs during gameplay, whereas the PS3 doesn't unless its programmed to.

I think that this may be one of the last things Avalanche consider. Any further considerations they take will likely be measured by demand after the game is released. Like many things, such as the DLC which may be available to all if the demand is high enough.

Your posts are very colourful by the way; red is one of my favourite colours so thankyou for using it so often

^ Hey man no problem

I like colours too

But yeah, I just want custom soundtracks for when I've finished the campaign and I'm raining havoc upon Panau !

I do ofcours strongly advise the dev team to patch this in later after release rather than to put it in the game before release and cause an other delay, which I think is hardly possible.

Anyhow, I've seen games where, while the game is printing the devs make a patch and when people insert it for the first time the game already has a patch.

Now that's what I mean by add it in via a patch!

EDIT: HAPPY HOLIDAYS

The PS3 is able if the devs allow it.

The Xbox360 on the other hand is able to do it from the get go on the guide button without respect for the developer.

Sony thought it'd be better for the devs to decide whether or not the games should have custom soundtracks available .

It is possible for the devs to disallow custom soundtracks on 360. All the guitar hero games do this (for obvious reasons).

actually it isn't only the game wich has to support this it's the console too... I think that SONY has avoided this feature to don't look like microsoft copy-cats.

Some games don't supprt in-game recording thats why you can do it on ragdoll: kung fu and not in farcry2.

Yes we did already know that, the video recording or rather capturing to a raw video format has not been seen on the Xbox360 as of yet.

This topic was soley to discuss custom soundtracks and not video capture!

So as I mentioned, it is up to the devs to allow custom soundtracks.
This is just the opposit of what Microsoft does because with Microsoft the devs have the option to disable it!

But Sony is not doing this, not just to avoid copying MS if you ask me, they just do it so that devs have more control over their userbase, I guess.

Anyhow!!! I really want the ability put on custom music whileplaying Just Cause 2, please

Criterion Games did it for Burnout Paradise (after the game was released) so **hopefully** Avalanche will too

Exactly it's not hard to do, knowing the reputation Avalanche Studios have I hope they live up to it by adding the feature *Fingers Crossed*

Here's what I don't understand. Do gamers really think the devs have all this spare time to devote to mere whims that aren't even central to the game? Aren't 14-hour days and working over nights to squeeze things in enough for them to do, with their deadline looming?

No I don't, but they easily have enough time to release it in a patch. Afterwards obviously..

Now that the game is out, I do believe they have time on their hands, at least a little to get this out in a patch

Because Avalanche studios is also working on a whole lot of DLC for this game I think they might release custom soundtracks when the DLC comes out.

Well TBH I dunno but I really wish they would do something about this

@ Jakejanne
Duder what the F ? private weapon ? huh ?
This is for every PS3 owner that is hooked up to the internet and able to patch his games and enjoy stuff like listening to music while causing chaos in Just Cause 2
