Crypto sequencer (PC/keyboard and mouse)

What am I actually doing with the crypto sequencer? I just mash A-D-LMB-RMB as fast as I can until my fingers cramp up, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. What am I supposed to be doing to get it to work?

A turns the left dial left, D turns it right, same with the mouse buttons for the right dial. move one until the wave is biggest, then move the other till it turns green.

Yeah. You have to essentially widen the wavelength until it's green, which you do by using a combination of either A or D and either LMB or RMB. When it's set right, it'll turn bright green - leave it there for a second or two, and it'll fry the lock (or whatever it is). Take your time - only the boobytrapped electronics have a time limit, I think.
