I Love this game .
SO I dont like the game to finish in a short time But I see that with every new Tomb Raider unleashed I discover that it is shorter than the earlier Why not making it long with more difficulty Cause to me Tomb Raider 4 is the hardest and longest while 6 7 8 are like a walk in the park |

Yeah, that's been a sore point here since for about forever. None of us can figure out why the games are so short either, so you're not alone.

If this is an official Forum for Eidos then there should be a way to ask more from them and making them hear our thoughts .

Like CD will spend money on the looks of Lara and put as much detail into the levels (about 4 or 5 levels ) and Lara. So rather than spend money making the games longer, isn't it better they spend the money on a short, tight game as opposed to a long, drawn out and possibly even empty levels?Perhaps that isn't the reason but it's my view anyway. |

Ah, but TR was in it's day i.e. the classics. I think the word 'impressive' (in gaming terms and my own view) means that it does something to revolutionize the way we play games, that TR1 did with the whole 3D concept. But a lot of other developer do get a lot more to play around with and there are games that do sell more than TR nowadays. The longer a game runs the more it seems to loose popularity.

It's not an isolated incident, play some more games this generation on any system that is similar or the exact same genre as Tomb Raider and you'll finish those games just as fast, if not sooner. |

Perhaps
but I guess they should make the game more difficult so we spend more time trying |

In polls somewhere around here everyone voted what CD did best in TR. Length and challenge seemed to be the thing least people were doing well.
Whatever other game companies are doing with length I think it's clear the TR games would benefit to be longer and more difficult. Maybe the intense detail in the recent graphics and lack of backtracking has made the games smaller. |

Look at it this way:
'your making a game, do you want people to give up because they are stuck/frustrated or do you want everybody to see the ending of your masterpiece?' I my eyes games aren't something invented for you to spend hours or months at a time playing, perhaps years ago yes but not many people have the time now. To me they are a means of mindless entertainment every now and then. EDIT - ^

You might as well write "DO NOT BUY ME. I DO NOT WANT YOUR MONEY" on the title box, because that's the message the game designers send in doing something like that. You have to consider that there are gamers of a wide variety and skill playing this game. If a gamer has to choose where to invest their money - between a game they can play and have fun with and a game they're unable to play - they're going to pick the fun option almost all the time. A game should not be so hard that it requires a walkthrough for gamers who haven't played the games before... However, a game that's ridiculously easy isn't going to be good either. There's no challenge, no fun. You can't get away with selling a game that doesn't appeal to the more intense stream of gamers, either. (Oh yeah, and the development companies need money. A fair amount given how expensive these games are to make). The trouble here is that there're always going to be veterans of the series. It's impractical to make a game that caters for both the newbies and the hardcore veterans. (i.e. either the game is going to be too hard for newcomers, or too easy for the longterm veterans). I hope the idea of Player Tailoring gets further developed in future games. (link). The conclusion there is that PT could be used to make the game easier where need be. That's one aspect. Another aspect I'd hope for is making the game harder... It's unfortunate that because of technology and compatability the earlier Core TR games are so difficult to get running and play. |
