What's your graphics card? (I suspect the error message actually states that your graphics card does not SUPPORT the latest shader software, in which case your machine probably does not meet the minimum requirements for playing this game.)

What exactly are your computer's specs? Video card, CPU, RAM, operating system, etc.

Can you give us an exact quote of what the error message says?

Usually what this error means is, your video card hardware does not support the version of shaders the game has, and the only way to fix this is to get a newer video card. For example, the game uses Shader 3.0 features and your video card might only do Shader 2.0. The first Shader 3.0 graphics cards came out in the summer of 2004, but every now and then you see some people who still don't have one.

On the other hand, maybe you just need to update your drivers or DirectX or something. We need to know the error before we can guess what the issue is.

Game requires a Shader Model 3 compliant card. Thats nVidia 6+ or ATI 1xxx series onwards. Intel have their 4xxx series that are Shader Model 3 compliant

If you card is `not` in this range you cannot update it via software to make it work am afraid, you will need a new graphics card.
