Screen Burn-In Prevention

Would it be possible to patch the game so that the HUD fades-out when the character isn't in battle, or at least offer an option to adjust the transparency of the HUD? After playing this game for a few hours I had to run some burn-in protection on my plasma. Fortunately I am aware of this enough that it wasn't a problem, but one can spend a lot of time exploring and not fighting in this game, and we don't really need to see the ninja's health, magic, experience, and active item while exploring a cleared level for 30+ minutes.
