Hopefully untill then i'll grow the extra brain cell required to properly install the mod. Huzaa!
Great models.
ps: maybe i'm going loony, but it looks like it would be great as a thief 4. Now a team to make missions. :P

There are missions in the works and of course the massive FM community over at TTLG will take this and run with it.

Don't be surprised if some really epic campaigns emerge.

Well, at least The Dark Mod will provide a great time-filler while waiting for Thief 4, and it can be used to build Thief 4 fantasy missions, haha!

So the question is: what is the time-filler between now and The Dark Mod?

any suggestions?

Just so I'm clear, it's a toolset but at present there are just 3 missions (one of which is a training mission)?

And also to be clear, the modding community is already well on the case?

Yeah, it's a toolset for making Thief-like FMs with the Doom 3 engine, not a game.
Last I heard there were four or five FMs, and they all have some portion of demonstration to them. Already the Mod's capabilities have surpassed what was done in those earlier and recent FMs. There are at least a few authors waiting for the big beta-release and some waiting for the "final" version before they start making FMs. The pre-beta Dark Mod and Dark Radiant are available now and reportedly very easy to work with, if anyone wants to get familiar with the tools, as a warm up. You just gotta have Doom 3 installed and working.

It could be some sort of inspiration for the devs also. They could see what we like and what we don't trough fan missions. Actually the best example of what to do.

A real-time virtual 3-D representation of an idea, demonstrating what may be hard to express in words.

Less than 2 months.

Funny thing is I bet the T4 devs have some ideas for missions that are preceded by FMs in The Dark Mod with a similar ideas. We'll surely have the "Mission X was great but tbh the Dark Mod FM Mission Y had the same concept but better" situation. And the reverse, natch.

Interestingly, the ropes in T1/G/T2 flail about if there's an explosion, but they are jointed at about every 10 feet of length, like three sticks with rotating ball joints.

I don't know how they are going to top it other than having both swingable ropes and effective climbing gloves.

The engine supports swingable ropes - we've seen it in Tomb Raider Underworld.

TDM has no gloves, but in later releases it will have vine arrows that are very different to the ones in T2. They will grow up walls and allow walls to be scaled. Or course someone could mod gloves in, either as a later release (an in-house development) or as a separate mod. I suppose this will be easier when the D3 source is eventually released which I reckon will be before T4 comes out.

The release of the source is the Holy Grail of TDM.

Ja, but it could be modded in, no?

Not really. It doesn't need the source release but it will be nice when it happens. Great things will emerge before source release.
