Default Ideal Superman Game (now that the platform has been established)

Heres some ideas i have for probably the closest thing you can get to the best superman game. Im sure someone has already mentioned some of it but here we go.

Superman and batman games should not be similar to spiderman sandbox games like the last superman returns game was. These are just whole different charachters were looking at here. Batman arkham asylum got the batman formula right and i really believe they could make an open world gotham using the mechanics from this batman game to pull it off, but they might not choose that route. But superman on the other hand, it would be great for.Rocksteady's gameplay for batman arkham asylum as we all know was really great. I loved the resident evil type of walking around batman does, then when you run or fight, it pans out to traditional third person mode so you can see what hes doing. Think about if rocksteady or someone else did a superman game and used the same mechanic, while making it a compeletely free roam because if your making a superman game IT HAS TO BE FREE ROAM. It just has to be done right.

The game layout needs to have these things in order to make it successful i believe
1. Have a huge metropolis like in superman returns that you can travel to and even go high above the clouds into
2. have a smallville you can travel to
3. maybe outer space
(of course there should be load times between these areas because theres no way you can fit all that on a game)
4. have the charachter model of superman walk around just like batman does (the over the should camera thing)
Think about this scenario. Say they make a superman game based on Birthright (which i think they should do) . now this scernerio isnt going to be based off the comic, im just trying to give an idea of how gameplay should be.
Ok clark starts off in the kent home with the over the should camera view and able to walk around and see everything in the house. he gets a prompt to walk outside and run out in the distance 4 miles to a tree or someting. they should totally have a button to transform into the superman clothes maybe like how a gadget was used in arkham asylum. ok bam he transforms. then have a button on the controller to superspeed run out to the tree. once superman starts to superspeed, the camera pans out just like when batman starts to fight in arkham asylum. now once superman stops running, the camera goes back to over the shoulder. Now all of clarks powers should be like the little gadget arsenal menu thing that batman has. one for freeze, heat vision, blow breath, throwing objects. As soon as superman starts to fly it should pan out to tradtional third person also. the game should allow you to fly or run from smallville to metropolis and to outspace (of course with loadtimes for each area after you get to a certain point)

ok lets say superman flys fro the tree we just ran out to, to metropolis. He gets to metropolis and sees a bank robbery and tries to stop it. The over the shoulder camera view would be great in this instance because the player could melt the robbers guns or something with heat vision sorta like how batman uses batarangs in arkham asylum over the shoulder style.

Anyway thats just a little of what ive thought about. sorry if my thinking sounds jumbled, im half asleep and should be in bed lol.

let me know what yall think

Superman?!?!

>.>

Real question is... are there any batman fans that like Superman? I mean if you ask me, other than the fact they fight for justice, they are kind of the opposite. In any case I still have nightmares of Superman 64.

i think superman would be a more intersting charachter to people if they made him more human in terms of emotion instead of how theyve made him robotic in the movies.

and yea superman and batman are totally different but what i meant is that the gameplay style of any future superman game i think should be like batman arkham asylum (of course no predator mode or sneaking around) but just have the resident evil type camera and power menu like batmans gadget menu and make it free roam and i think it would be a great game.

Maybe it would be a good game, Superman I think might be an even harder game to design. I think any game from henceforth will really depend on the powers these guys have, and how to design a game around it. Rocksteady perfected it with Batman.

I'd just have to say I hope that Resident Evil type camera means you can MOVE while you perform a blow breath or whatever, and not be forced to stop while aiming...

Theres' loads of DC comic fans who enjoy both Batman and Superman. The fact they are opposites just makes it even better when the two ally together and fight crime together.

Yeah Superman 64 was a horrible game, but looking at Batman games pre-BAA, the only good one before happened to be Lego Batman and Nintendo 8-bit's Batman game.

Yeah I agree, I read a whole lot of batman, and I still enjoy superman comics, almost just as much.

yea theres tons of superman fans i myself being one, even though i do like batman better i believe.

yea as far as using powers go, you should be able to move and use them at the same time and use them while flying.

maybe a mix of batman arkham asylum plus superman returns would do the trick for this game?

i just want a good superman game finally that does him justice just like this batman game. The only thing perplexing me right now with my game idea is how to make him vunerable. The metropolis health meter wouldnt work in the game i have in my head. the only thing i can think of that would probably work is that bullets dont hurt him ( and only the enemies use bullets early in the game and upgrade has you progress). When superman does get hurt, you can only get hurt but getting punched or kicked( of course toning down his invunerablity like in the superman tas) or shot at by some crazy laser gun or something. When you game over, it should be explained away as him just passing out, not dying

Anyone who isn't a blind Batman fanboy enjoys Superman. The whole "he's too powerful" complaint is so ridiculously stupid it's hilarious. What about Thor? What about the Hulk? Nothing. But Superman? The complaints just keep coming in. It's sad when people have no basis or any real reason as to why they dislike a character. Like people who claim to hate the Watchmen movie because they weren't real superheroes. Stupid ass reason.

Wow calm down dude, and relax, lol. We get your point but don't take it to extremes, some people just don't like superman, alright? Wow...

I think for a Superman game to work they need to lower his powers quite a bit Superman was kickass in the DCAU, and that's how they did it. Armour-piercing rounds could discomfort him and he struggled to stop a speeding train.

Or they could have you progress from a Clark in his late-teens, with few powers and those that he had are fairly weak (no flying, for example, just big jumps) and as you play through the game you unlock more powers. And as you do so (and this is vital) your objectives in game scale up as well. So going from having to stop a runaway train to having to save an airliner full of people and even beyond that.

A really important thing about Superman is that so much of what he does isn't about stopping pursesnatchers and beating criminals up. Superman's powers are on a different level. In terms of the Justice League, Batman fights on the personal level, Superman fights on a bigger level, doing what Batman can't.

I think they should make a completely unique experience with a fully detailed Earth with everywhere from the US to Istanbul. As far as villains go,people always forget about Supes' other 2 weaknesses:
-Magic
-Brute force
Have a fully detailed Fortress where you could view character bios, trophies, and Holographic video records of Superman's greatest battles.

-Full array of powers, villains, and story driven gameplay.
-Find all 300 of Brainiac's clues to find out what he's planning
-Fight iconic villains like grundy, luthor, bizarro,Metallo, and zod
-Ability to replay levels by rotating the earth's orbit via flying backwards in time(that last one was for fun)

Sorry Drazar, stuff like this really irritates me. I will defend Superman until the day I die. I just recently watched Superman (1978) and thought it was better than I remembered. Burton may have been the first to start *serious* superhero flicks, but Richard Donnor made the first real *awesome* superhero flick.

Don't forget another weakness: Red sunlight/radiation.

And the Earth rotation idea is actually pretty creative. I like it.
