Who thinks that the ability to select the mode of fire (Single Shot, Full Automatic, 3-Round Burst, etc.) on guns like the M4 or MP5 (SMG), should be included in the next patch?

I think this is something Hitman 2 does not need, and that the next patch should rather include a level-editor. Remember that Hitman2 is not indended to be a shooter, so the shooting doesn't need to be as detailed as in less brain-demanding games.

It would be nice to see fire select modes on the weapons that support them. No one in their right mind uses semi- automatic at close range with an SMG. Most firing is done in 3 round burst and in some cases (environment and circumstances permitting) double tapping in single shot mode, for the simple reason that every time you hit a torso, successive shots dramatically increase your chances of a kill (IRL anyway). Now some of you will think shooting the target in head once will do the job. Your right, but if you miss, you've just sailed a large piece of lead past someone’s ear and they are going to hear it, which defeats the purpose of silenced weapons in the first place. Conversely churning away on full-auto at approx. 950 rounds a minutes doesn't do a lot for the accuracy stakes. So yes, bring on the fire modes, even if it’s only for the H&K MP5 SD6 and the M4.
cheers

I definately want there to be fire modes in the next patch, while ALSO including a level editor.
Even though Hitman 2 was not intented to be a standard shooter, the ability to select the fire modes does make the weapons a bit more realistic. Having different fire modes lets you have more control over the weapon, and conserve ammo, depending on how you play the game - for me I usually rank "Mass Murderer".

Hey ppl,
Hitman 1 had fire modes and that was quite useful. So bring it back to Hitman 2!!! Maybe IO interactive can also introduce a new weapon as well (the AK-47!). |

I agree. The original AK must be in any game alon with the original M16. I hate the AKSU and the M4.
But did hitman1 have selective fire? I cant remember. How did you activate it? |

Added fire modes will definitely make the game more sophisticated, but I don't think it's necessary.

In hitman 1 default key for mode of fire is TAB:
For automatic rifles i usually leave it on semi-automatic mode as full auto is only good for close-quarter combat. Recoil of the AK-47 (or M16) stops you from simply firing in the enemys direction and hopin to hit them at medium-long ranges. |

Strange. I didn't even know. I'll try it later and check wether it's neccesary or not.

The different firing modes in Hitman 1 make precisely Zero difference to the accuracy of the weapon. They're just there for effect or for saving bullets I guess. They probably left them out of H2 because they weren't really doing anything in H1 and to make them useful or realistic would probably create a balance nightmare they couldn't be bothered dealing with (eg the way accuracy is modeled a single shot M4 or mp5 that's too much more accurate than they are would probably make for a better range weapon than the sniper rifles with a bit of practice. Plus there being none of that nasty scope wobble and breathing.) Having any particular gun that's too versatile would go against the grain of the game's design, I would think.
