If the Joker had to canonically die, how should he die?

I think the title is pretty self-explanitory. If the Joker had to die in the mainstream comic, how should he go and why?

I think the Joker should die at the end with the first Batman. Since both of the character kept on continuesly saying one of us will at the end kill another one, both of them should infact die together in my opinion.

How he died in the Dark Knight Returns was really sweet. Batman kept telling himself he was going to kill Joker, but stops at paralysis...and Joker breaks his own neck the rest of the way laughing till he dies. So it looked like Batman did kill him, even tho he stopped himself. A final joke on Batman.

I know that killing is against Batman's code, but I would've really liked to see Bruce snap and kill the Joker. I think that would've opened some interesting stories. For example: how would Batman deal with this? How would his allies? And, to me the most interesting angle, how would his roques gallery react?

If anyone's going to write a non-canonical graphic novel about this, I will definately pick it up.

I think he should die by batmans own hands, since they both are practically the same (explained in comics) it would be very dark..

Wardrobe malfunction. He'd pull a gun to his head that he thought had the boom flag inside, but nope, its a real gun, proving that even he isn't safe from chaos.

I won't attempt to try to be specific, but Batman should impress the Joker with the greatest joke punchline (metaphorically speaking) he never could've thought up himself, and as this punchline unravels his plans, he roars with laughter and makes a fatal mistake, leading to his own demise. Of course, Batman shouldn't even realize the dark humor in what he was doing that accidentally killed the Joker until the Joker's response clued him in.

1. joker wouid rape and kill talia al ghul forcing bruce to watch, bruce breaks free beating joker half to death, joker escapes and batman follows . a few days later batman finds him and continues beating joker but then refuses to kill him because he doesn't kill . out of nowhere , out comes ras with the entire league of assassins begging batman to finish but still he refuses and it is the hardest thing he has ever done so he throws joker to the assassins and not only does batman stay to watch, but he laughs with the most sincere joy.
2. harley would get in to trouble with some villain like.............two face and as he pulls the trigger to rid himself of harley , joker jumps in front of the bullet knowing batman wouldn't be in time to save her. his wound is fatal and as batman arives to stop two face, joker confesses love for harley and apologies to her for being the way he was...............then tells batman that they will continue their rivalry ln hell as the life fades from his body.
