Default Why I need the guide

Since this game is gonna have backtracking like the Metroid games, there is no way I’m going to remember where to go. Also the fact that there is no new game plus, a guide will help me get thru it faster if I decide to play it again. Web of Shadows was good for using new game plus. And the guide will help me find the Riddles if I ever decide to get around to them.

Chances are that Oracle will give you direction on where to go. The more recent Metroid Prime series featured something similar. I doubt you'll need a guide to finish the game but to complete it without putting in too much effort, then yes. You may need the guide to find all those Riddles, etc.

I for one refuse to use the guide and look forward to hunting everything down.

I don't see the point in buying guides personally. I like to find everything out myself although I can see why people buy guides.

Yeah why people with the internet buy game guides is beyond me. If it was for Zelda then maybe. But thats the whole point of playing the game.

The more struggle to complete this game, the better IMO.

Will the guide have any exclusive artwork or something?

Usually, that's what sells me on guides.

you're going to be the GOD DAMN BATMAN!

if you want the full Batman experience with your Arkham Asylum game, you need to think and act like the Dark Knight when you play your copy, its more fulfilling doing stuff on your own than read from a stratedy guide, everything is laid out infront of you, if you have no clue on something and is completely stumped rather than give up, use the internet ask questions and return to being Batman.

thats my opinion though, it'd suck for me to swoop down in the middle of 6 goons, bounce off them and cape stun, and then have to flick through my strategy guide to find the best possible combat method of taking down the goons messing up my can of whoop ass on wheels....

i'll do the same thing with batman that i do with fallout 3: play has much of it as possible without using a guide whatsoever until i cant find that one item or riddle that i would really like to have/solve and then use an online wiki to check for that one thing.

guides are good when you don't want to wast time searching for stuff or just want to move on past something extremely difficult; it subsequently adds to the over all fun of the game by removing the major frustrations. But other then that it takes away from the game play.

i mean how fun is it to do something by the book when you can just do it yourself in your own way?

I'm used to back tracking, cause I play Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and they have a look of back tracking in.

Well with my schedule I don’t have time to not use a guide. I have a 5 month old and other games I plan on playing in August. So I just want to get thru this one quick and then later on if I have time I’ll go back to it. But Madden and the new Transformers which I got last month that has online play will be taking up my gaming time. Both are really fun games and love the replay value on them.

Amen brother. Game guides represent everything that's wrong with the world. Making everything easier and removing any sense of accomplishment. And like you said your the God Damn Batman! The world's greatest detective.

If The Riddler clues don't pop up for the ones u found then its gonna be easy to back track.
You can continue to play the game after completion, although a play+ would be a good idea so u can start with all your stuff maxed out. Like The Force Unleashed did.

I think the ONLY guide i've ever bought and used before was the old Zelda: Orcarina of Time game for the N64!! probably the greatest game ever!!

anyways, i was super small when i played it and all the puzzles and stuff were wayyy crazy

I doubt the island is massive, just play the game, you'll get used to it

I know San Andreas and Vice city like the back of my hand.

I hope so, this is why I like the guides too. I don't use them on my first playthrough so I don't spoil the game, only when on the harder difficulty's and to find out all the secret's/riddle's...etc.
