Sky Saxon is no longer with us
Since the passing of several icons has been a topic lately I though I would post about a once hugely iconic (to some) and also fairly unknown great from the 60s.
I'm sure a lot of you have never heard of Sky Saxon or the Seeds. Most of those who have heard of the Seeds only know the big hit, Pushing Too Hard.
Sky passed away on the 25th from "heart and kidney failure" caused by an unnamed infection.
He was reported as being anywhere from 72 years old to being in his mid 60s. There seems to be discrepancies as to when he was born.
Unlike the other famous people who's left us recently, Sky isn't remembered by many except hard core fans of 60s pop and psychedelia. But he bears remembering. He was a true original from his bizarre looks to his more bizarre music and more than a little strange vocals. Anyone who stood out in a sea of strangeness of 60s pop and rock personalities is special. And Sky was special. Listen to The Seeds "March Of The Flower Children" and you'll know what special is
So, if you are at all interested in listing to something new, or you do remember Sky and the Seeds, do check out these videos and articles.
(that last one is more than a little too strange for me even!)
See you Sky, I'll keep listening
You just gotta be right this time!
