Default Is Adam French Canadian?

It's just that with his sloping forehead and receeding hairline, the guy looks a little French Candian...

I know that sounds weird to say, and I'm not trying to offend anyone, but I used to work at the Canadian Embassy here in D.C. and the French Canadians there kind of had a similar look - well, without the ciggy at least :-)

Default Yeah...

I read somewhere here that his apartment might be in Detroit - but that doesn't stop him being French Canadian - a lot of them live here in the States after all.

Go back and look at his face - you'll see what I mean. I think the jaw line and the chin def. make him more european. I would not be surprised at all to hear him with a Quebecois [/sp] accent.

Don't know, the head's too large to be a typical urban frenchie, and too refined for the larger guys of woodrunners heritage. Features are a bit strong in certain areas, especially the cheekbones.

I see the point about the hairline, though. It's true ours is typically starting a little further back, hence why we tend to look a bit foolish with shaved hair.

Edit: Interestingly, though, a lot of French Canadians moved to nearby American industrial cities during the 1800's, including Detroit. It is to wonder if there is a link, somehow.

This thread makes me wonder what a phrenologist would have to say about Adam. Especially his famous hexagon. :P

I'm sure he will end up being the guy whose DNA was taken to create the Dentons (even though Paul was supposed to be a normie, but I'm sure he's a clone too, somehow) so, if he's Canadian that can only mean one thing...

I think he should be Irish. 'Cause everyone loves Irish people. Plus we're amazing people anyway. There is absolutely no bias towards Irish people in this post... nope! None.

LOL - gotta love the Irish!

Actually, have there been any sound files, i.e. voices released yet? Can we maybe listen to a line whereby Adam shoots an alligator at the sandiego zoo and then, cannling Arnie, says, "now you are luggage"

All video game protagonists I know are either American or "Fantasylander". Well, except Lara Croft.

That would be too lame. It's bad enough they made Montreal one of the locations.

Montréal is nice. I was there two years ago. Lots of fun. I went down the east of coast of Canada. It doesn't seem to be a hive of conspiracy though. Did anyone see the Jackie Chan film The Medallion? Well in the film the Interpol HQ is located in Dublin (Ireland, if you suck at geography). I didn't buy it for a second. In fact the very idea that there would be a world Headquarters of anything in Ireland struck me as the most stupid thing in a very stupid film. As big of a money maker as Ireland was, and all the small technological innovations that were created there and the various important components, which are probably in your very computer, that were made, Ireland is still a relatively peripheral country on the world stage. I've never thought of Canada as any more central.

Personally I would've been really happy if you could choose your race thus affecting your gameplay options. Say you decided to be an American; you might encounter mistrust or silence from Chinese officials. But if you decide to be Chinese you are more welcomed in Shanghai. But if you end up running into a gang in Detroit you won't get as far as the American. Or you'd have to work harder to earn their trust and your questions couldn't be as penetrating without upsetting or raising their suspicions.

He does have a pretty sloped forehead (and prominent brow ridges), but I wouldn't say that his hairline is receded. I think he has a rather small, slender face, so he might be on the slim side.

It might be the perspective of the drawing, but it looks to me like he rolls his own cigarettes. Probably a good idea, because it can take up less inventory space! Since communication-based skills will be featured in this game, maybe the player will need to scavenge / bum smokes in order to keep Adam from getting moody. The choice of whether to annoy NPCs by acting like a total or bugging them for a cigarette should be left primarily to the player, of course. After all, Deus Ex is about choice!

It's quite a fact that no conspiracy can be taken seriously in Montreal, or anywhere else in Canada.

I didn't see it that way.

It is, however, the North American capital of night life clubbing. I guess that part fits the bill. That, and contact strip joints =P

Yeah, I always got the impression that he was pretty slim and not massively muscular.

Possible clues about his build (from recent video):

The small one on the far left looks like one of Barontieri's character sheets, maybe Adam's character model.

Anyway, if the male population of Montreal looks like Adam, I'll be visiting this summer

Exactly. Detroit or Montréal isn't that world famous and/or central as New York, Honk Kong and Paris. (Just like Trier Seattle and Cairo. For me, it was one of the things where IW sucked. But at least, they explained it quite well with the raising enclave system after the collapse that changed the world order.)
