Default Asking permission to port Thief 1 missions to Thief Metal Age

Dear Eidos,

In this tread - - - > http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127153
there is a discussion about porting all Thief Dark Project games so that we can play then on Thief Metal Age.

Making this would help all those gamers who can´t make Thief 1 run on their modern computers. But this also falls on a legal grey area.

I personally think this would be great for Eidos. Making that 10 year old game accessible on modern computers would attract all those gamers interested in Thi4f. They would know the origin of the game. And this would also boost the sale of TMA again, with no costs from the developers.

Therefore I ask Eidos if the community could have the permission to make the TDP conversion.

Thanks!

Since it would hurt sales of TDP and Thief Gold, permission is unlikely.

I'd like to know where you live that they are still selling TDP and Thief Gold.

Even still...

I'd expect that as Thief 4 moves forward and it looks like it won't be vaporware, they might package the three games in a "trilogy box" that will run with today's computers.

It'd be helpful for generating hype, just like how Bionic Commando was re-released on XBLA to hype the new version that just came out.

Still it would be a nice change.

We don´t know yet if Eidos will find the Source Code. So if they can´t make the game open source or make a TDP/TMA/TDS package avaliable when you buy TH4 I think that letting the TDP game being ported for TMA would be nice.

Besides IMHO they would gain much more money with open source hype before TH4 than selling few obscure boxes of TDP every year that might not work on the computer.

Assuming your average person would give a flying , of course.

TDP appears to be more stable on my computer than TMA. But I'd love to see some source code, in a perfect world.

I started that thread, and I'm telling you that MA runs perfectly on my PC while DP, for some unknown reason, refuses to do so.
Also, porting of OMs appears to be illegal, so I don't think that heaps of The Sword ports are lying somewhere out there.

That is quite strange Herr_Garrett, as I have been able to get both games running on Vista. On the other hand, one of my friends has been totally unsuccessful in getting either game to run. Strange.
