To everyone complaining about DRM... DRM means Digital Rights Management. That means you, who paid money to purchase a product, can manage your rights to that digital content. All you need is an internet connection. Go to Google and search for "game fixes". Download a fix from a perfectly legal website for your game and presto! You have successfully claimed the rights to own and use the product that you actually own already, but weren't given the rights to own that product for some reason.
Sometimes in addition to not actually getting the rights to own a game, a customer doesn't even get the right to play the game either. Who ever said that even though you pay money for something you should actually recieve that something? These fixes sometimes fix even those issues. So it's 2 birds with one stone. You get the rights to own the game that you paid for, and you actually get to play the game too!

I'm fairly certain that Thief 4 will not be advertised so much on TV and magazines as it willbe on the internet. So people who end up getting Thief 4 will most likely find out about it's release, and make the decision to buy it through the use of internet. *censored due to truth* and *censored due to truth* that get around the criminal activities of game publishers and protect the rights of customers are small files and take very little time to download. I'm sure that every potential customer would have some internet access available to accomplish that.

I fear...
- a disgusting port from console to PC (please make it PC native and THEN port it to console!!!) - unfinished and/or unpolished game due to rushed release - super realistic graphics and a short story - short and stupid missions - stupid AI - ninja style attacks, double jumps and crap like that - no improvements and fixing patches after game is released - insanely high system requirements to play the game - no 16:9 widescreen support - DRM - internet connection required to play the game - no 5.1 audio support - 1st person view only (please include a 3rd person view like in T3 Deadly Shadows) - long loading screens |

Personally, my only concerns are about the quality and scale of the level design. I get annoyed by poor and cramped level design. I have confidence in the team though.

If (not confirming anything here) they are developing for consoles, 16:9 and 5.1 audio support is a given.

My fears for Thief 4 have changed a bit from the initial fears. Now I fear that Thief 4 will be vaporware.

Awesome Graphics and Crappy Gameplay
To much deviation from the gameplay of the first two Futuristic setting Only Third Person Assassins Creed inspiration, mind you I like AC but I want it separate from my thief Bad animation Bad Controls Glithchy Long loading times Short game Bad port from console to pc but for me due to my pc's hardware the other way around or even worse no console version or cut content from one version Pre order bonuses where you can't get all of them in one package Mulitplayer Graphics wise I could care less, they could do it in the dark engine and I would be happy I wouldn't mind playing as someone other than Garret has long he was still there with the same voice maybe the girl from the end of TDS or a prequel. |

On second thought I would prefer garret but it also must have the same setting has the others no future or modern day crap. The only other character I would like though its unlikely is Zaya.

Good to hear that you would like to see Garrett back in T4...
![]() It is unlikely she will be in T4...or even mentioned. The devs at EM understand the background and true nature Garrett, as it is known and confirmed that they have a writer on-board from the trilogy. This means that they understand that Sally was just used as a device for Garrett's personal story. So, unless there was somehow a problem obtaining Stephen Russell's services for T4, there wouldn't be a reason to arbitrarily dump a beloved and iconic character, one which adds tremendous value to the series. Having anyone else as the protagonist for T4 will only be a result of a forced, secondary choice. |

Even in TDS, Garrett was depicted as fundamentally true to his lone wolf nature...this was consistent, even if certain other aspects were questionable. If this mystery writer is indeed from TDS, then they surely realize Sally's intended reflective purpose for Garrett coming full circle at that point in the story, and would naturally wish to continue congruently from that basis. Again, it would have to be a forced secondary choice (SR contractual or availability issues) for EM to knowingly agree to twist a cherished fundamental (Garrett's loner mystique). This would undoubtedly be met with an abundance of harsh criticism...and EM would never want this.

Whomever this mystery writer may be is irrelevant to what I am saying, because none of the writers in TDS broke the fundamental core mystique of Garrett. You see, even though Garrett exhibited some uncharacteristically selfless actions in TDS, they were short-lived exceptions to his usual behavior...and ultimately, did not fundamentally break his core nature...like taking on an apprentice would. Taking on an apprentice would result in a new continual way of thinking for Garrett, rather than the intermittent momentary exceptions to his normal way of thinking. This is why taking on an apprentice would fundamentally alter his nature, because there would be no way to make a short-lived exception out of it.

Okay... one of my greatest fear for Thief 4....
... That they pull a Hideo Kojima and we only play as Garrett for the first stage or two before he goes MIA and we play the rest of the game as a new "Thief", who oddly has the same stealthy skills as Garrett, but is more young and "hip". I will accept no substitutes! Garrett is THIEF! |

I got alot of fears for the coming Thief game, but my BIGGEST fear is that they'll make it an open-ended GTA / Assassins Creed style sandbox game. Its the WORST thing they can do to a thief game!
By going sandbox style the Thief game would loose its most vital core aspects: 1. The oppressive atmosphere. In every mission, you are surrounded by tall buildings, or inside dark castles and caves etc. There is no big open areas in the thief games. 2. (as mentioned previously) The constant feeling of danger and paranoia because you always have to rely on stealth to keep yourself alive. In a sandbox style game, this goes away when you have to traverse big distances all the time. This also brings us over to the 3rd core aspect wich is; 3. The city. Aside from Garret himself, the City is the biggest character. Its name and location is unknown, theres litteraly no official information on it. It just exists. The mystery that surrounds the City is a vital part of the game's atmosphere, and a sandbox style game would effictively ruin this, with free exploration and constant backtracking back and forth killing the mystery and turning the city into just another set piece. TL/DR: The Thief series must NEVER turn into a sandbox game.

1.Garrett sporting that Ninja look throughout the game.
2. Food cannot be hoarded and eaten for health. 3. No sword or rope arrows. 4. No undead or ghosts. 5. No strange creatures. 6. No magic. 7. No Keepers, Hammers or Pagans. 8. No Dew Drop. |

There are plenty, manymanymany, things that would make the game not as great as it ought to be... things that have been strongly suggested and even verified...
But the things that would ruin Thief because they ruin ANY AND EVERY game they infest?
