Oh, well that is interesting. Still, DX:HR is only single player = pretty sure T4 will be the same = not too worried.

Hehe, T4 as a social game? The whole game revolves around dealing/encountering/seeing others as little as possible......

Actually, that sounds a lot like the relationship between me and my boss = maybe T4 is the ultimate social game?

Hehe, which you know is going to lead to people forming a real Thieve's Guild...without any of the experience and solidarity = everybody is going down pretty fast. Good news though is that it will make a lot of publicity for the game itself!

Default two player co-op

How about creating an online co-op mode. Two thieves casing a house, distracting and taking out the guards and robbing the city blind. Sounds like it could be much fun to me.

You do realize that the game you're talking about is not any of the Thief games, right? You're talking about Assassin's Creed, which is a fun game in it's own way but I still don't think it compares to TDS.

"Is it possible to get behind the pirate's curtain?" is multi-player. The making of "T2X" is multi-player. Garrett draws community from the first sound. What forge are those naked facts coming from?

Could there be made some game in sight of the game that intersects in commitment these?

Nice example. But I think the Thief serie is a mixture of both.
I guess, a very impotant thing - next to the story and the characters - in Thief is the atmosphere. It were the little letters and books you could read. Sometimes they included more or less useful hints, sometimes they just let the story appear deeper. And that's what i loved in Thief.
If you make a MP mode it's more than likeley this atmosphere will be destroyed. I think, people won't take the time to read every 'unneccessary' letter if there is another one, who does'nt care or knows this part already.
But I guess a Coop-Mode would be a nice thing. A second thief could be able to turn a switch somewhere while the other goes through the new opened door before it closes. Or someone could lead a watch away while the other does his 'trade'.
Which leads me to a very interesting point: Communication.
I think, a chat display would be distrubing. So I'd say: You make a plan, before you get into. After that the only way to communicate is by 'speaking' and 'whispering'. This would be bordered. You can't shout through the whole castle, dungeon, cathedral or wahtever. If you want to explain something, the other has to be in range. And this makes noise.
I guess this would be a nice way to resque the atmosphere. And it would'nt get too easy.
What do you think about?

I'm surprised in this day and age people still take this view. I think with so many fantastic minds and games out there, this kind of distinction has been disproved. SP games do not need to be book-like whatsoever, similarly MP respectively need not be "arcade"-like. Games like Modern Warfare (*shudder*) feed this classic genre stereotype. I mean look at what Arkane studios were doing with The Crossing.

I would like Thief with Multiplayer, but what i mean isnt a Coorperative Style but a Thieves vs Guards, like in Thievery, Thief 4 needs to get something like this!
Anyways if the Thief 2 multiplayer mod wouldnt be so buggy i would play Thief 2 even today with my friends

Cooperative 'Team Thieves' style would be more fun than 'Thieves vs Guards'....but 'Thieves vs Guards' would also be fun.

I think there shouldn't be multiplayer. Garrett is a solo operative and that lends itself to a single-player experience.

Edit: ^ So is Sam fisher and solid snake, but Pandora tomorrow and mgs4 had brilliant multiplayer modes

I could see it having mp, but only if it exploits the strong points of the single player.

Why does the world end? And both examples I listed demonstrate how multiplayer can be redefined so that it isn't something we've experienced before. I don't see how that's a bad thing. You are right that we have a very different list of strong points, being as how I don't really bother to make lists.

Go ahead ruin it for me and make it a multi-player sniper game with addon chat, twitter, facebook and a small window that gives me constant updates to what Justin Bieber is doing 24/7

Think you're taking it a bit hard mike. If they do it well the multiplayer could very well be enjoyable and still feel largely like playing the single player game.

They also could... you know, be competent thieves? Sneaking in shadows and taking advantage of the fact that those in the light can't see as well into the darkness isn't a terribly skillful thing, and minor practice would allow one to become "better" at deciding how and where to hide. Wearing proper footgear and learning to move silently is also an easily acquired skill with practice... same with lockpicking, etc. Garrett's not some supernatural being - observers are just blind, blinded, or stupid, and Garrett has the experience such that he's already well practiced in skills. It's not inconceivable that there are some other expert thieves out there. The best part is that we'd never know if they were... :P

Making MP is time not making SP, same with 3rd-Person vs. 1st-Person. It takes more time to make MP and 3P than a Thief game.
what Hypavosa said... Jtr7, I'm completely on your side about it , but I'm just trying to think outside the box for a few seconds. The hypothetical alternate version of thief which had multiplayer..

Default Thief 4 multiplayer

Hey people the new screenshot almost confirms multiplayer in thief 4. So what game types do u think will be cool. I think they could do a loot match where everybody has to search for loot and take them back to your base before the time runs out if you die the enemy can pick up the loot. So it is pretty much head hunter from halo reach. Or a deathmatch game where there are two teams the thieves and the guards. The thieves have increased speed and stealth but less health and the guards have increased health and power but low speed.

Just post any other gametypes u wanna see
