I think that the people who say it often have more thoughts behind it than is actually presented. People state it because they are tired of having the same discussion over and over without anyone presenting any motivations for implementing or changing various concepts. Sure it is a generalization and puts everyone in a single group the"i haven't thought about what i want but i know various gameconcepts which i like and all of those should be in the new thief based on that i like the concepts"- group.

When people actually argue and shows an understanding for the connection between different aspects of the game and how new aspects may influence the old. I can't say that there are any "want x go play Y"- reactions.

Wow phd is pretty serious! I was originally going to phrase my suggestion to be conditional by saying "if that is where you are in life" rather than "if the opportunity presents itself". I guess I found out that the former was probably better since the latter was more presumptuous. I hope your phd goes well. I don't think I could handle much more math. My comprehensive exam to get my BA in math was pretty painful. Plus I know my wallet couldn't handle more education debt anyway, no matter how much I'd love to look at signing up for courses. Maybe some computer science would be nice though, eventually.

If, say, two people are arguing about what an orange is, versus an apple, and the first person denies the existence of the rind of one or the other or both in the sense that it grew rindless and no rind was ever removed, and state that if the rind even existed, it would surely be unimportant anyway, the second person has full rights to cease discussing it further on the grounds that the discussion is inherently flawed and fallacious. If the second person knew going in that it was a hypothetical argument, and that the first person didn't really believe the rind didn't exist, and wasn't trying to cause trouble, wasn't insane or ignorant, and had made it at least somewhat clear that the discussion was going to be a creative exercise and thought experiment, the second person may have enjoined fully and ran with it.

Well, I'll at least ATTEMPT to get this thread back ON TRACK. You guys are a tough bunch, you know that?

One wish that I have is that THIEF 4 have expansion packs every year or so. As with GTA, once the world is created, it doesn't take too much effort to slap together a MINI game consisting of about 1/3 the content of the parent game.

HEAR THAT EM? You guys got lots of time on your hands. Create an expansive world that we can revisit every 12 months through expansion supplements. The SIMS have proven it to be very lucrative.

I got my anti troll armor and FLAMER resistant coating sprayed on. BRING IT ON good people of the Eidos forums.

you know, pressing that ignore button is getting very tempting. As we know, cheater has told us that he will never give us a concrete example or back any thing he says with arguments. That should in it self be enough to bring out the banhammer since it is actually a statement that he won't take part in the discussion but will continue posting. I mean, if everyone acted like him there would be no discussion at all, just people writing random words in capital letters claiming that they have a superior knowledge.

A confused statement about gta and the sims, something about expansion packs, not minding that he is talking about games from three different genres. So, nah, don't bother.

But let's extract the only relevant aspect which he said: Expansion packs

EM could release episodic epilogues to Thief 4, maybe dropping just a few bits of info building the aspects which could be the main plot for Thief 5. It would be awesome if we are given a few clues and mysteries to puzzle with while we are waiting for the next episode. Think about the forum debate =).

When it comes to expansion packs, since sandbox and openworld additions is simply just fillers it is quite pointless to add areas etc. What do you people think about Thief Gold? Filling in inbetween the missions. The only issue is the plot might feel unfocused depending on how much content is added. Though if the progression has enough gaps of time and we're not told everything leaving some things unexplained it would be a great possibility for FM and expansion missions.

As I said, I will NOT speak anymore of this, you have my word. But, shouldn't the same THREATS that you extend to me be extended to those that constantly bring up the issue and FORCE me to defend myself?

You failed again by continuing to ask me silly questions. Shame.
Then this morning, I get more via my PM box.

What threat? It wasn't a threat. Here's the map, take the sewer exit. Bye.

100% troll, disguised as a rat, I think.
Besides, his constant high-pitched "squeaking" was getting on my nerves... and his invasion of my PM box really was the last twig.

The manfool daresie slinkered on her Lady's bladed Green?

Loup, I'm not decided on what would work for an expansion pack that wouldn't be too common or predictable in Thief fashion. Arguably, the Thief Gold missions did not add as much story as it did world-building, with the Hand Mages offering the most potential, but expansions like Little Big World was to The Sword are more what I would like. In all instances, most of the changes were really for the devs to catch up on what they couldn't make the deadline for, plus embellishments and fun additions, as well as helping the players not to break the missions by adding the Fire Shadow. I would be less interested in additional missions, but I would be interested in expanding the existing missions' and working in more detail and refinement, and patching and addressing concerns. Thief Gold added enough backstory material and potential for future games rather than coming across as a pack of expensive FMs, so thorough integration is key to making it exciting for me.

The "gold" release is basically like the directors cut of the game...the unedited story if you will. It would be nice to have that in the first place...along with larger, spatially accessible, and richly defined missions.

YOUR THOUGHTS & WISHES & SUGGESTIONS for T4
EM should not call their game Thief: some_banal_crap, it Thief 4: Something_nice should be.
EM should not put a Delta symbol anywhere in Thief 4 subtitle pretending that Delta reads like an A. Oh well, and they should remember that 4 is not E.
EM should not choose 'Steampunk Renaissance' art-direction for Thief 4.
EM should not let Square Enix make none of the trailers.
EM should not make a game that takes place in Thief universe look like it actually takes place in Assassin's Creed-meets-BioShock universe.
EM should not release any Thief trailers that have zero, I mean zero style and atmosphere of the original Thief games.
EM should not make Garrett (or any other main hero) look effiminate in any way

Since they failed with all these points with Deus Ex 3, I slightly hope they will improve on Thief 4. Though it sounds way too optimistic on my side.

I don't like certain people to be "stereotyped", no. You have to ask yourself, what does a homosexual 'look' like? Not all of them look effiminate, do they? As the poster wanted to say he doesn't like the effiminate look of Adam in the DX3 trailer, I made the appropriate edit so that he actually says just that.

It's fine. It has nothing to do with Deus Ex, though.

Well, the way that glass was about to break, I'm sure they could sneak "I spill my drink!!" in there somewhere, heh.
