Hello everyone, 1st post here. I've been a huge Thief fan since 97 even though I'm not a regular online taffer. I've been playing since I was 14 & just recently I've renewed my obsession with the world of Hammers, Pagans & City secrets. Even though this is a huge thread, if anyone would read my comments & suggestions for the very anticipated Thief 4 I would appreciate it. This is coming from a regular player, not someone who is living in the Thief world or knows anything about programming or fan missions, so take it easy on me here

- Even though the story of T3 wasn't as intense as the 1st two parts were & had many different plots that got somewhat complicated I loved exploring the City, buying my own ammo, sneaking into random people's homes & pickpocketing loot in the street. Most of us have memorized the City streets & I'm sure would love to keep it just the way it is in the new game. I personally wouldn't mind if it got bigger but yeah, keep the City.

- One thing I didn't know I was missing out on was how much of the dialogs I didn't hear (or misunderstood), the subtitles option is great! Ok, so sometimes it's a bit slow to move on but it's been a life saver!

- Make Garrett swim again, for God's sake....... it's ridiculous that we trained for it in T1 but the moment we stepped into the beach in T3: instant death! Woah! Not cool.......

- This might be asking for too much but the invisibility & speed potions, oh man I loved those! Yes the game is definitely playable without them but they were a lot of fun!

- Now I'm not saying the climbing gloves suck, but if you give me the choice of rope arrow & gloves I'll choose the arrows every time!

- I've always found this strange: If the game is happening sometime in the Middle ages & as we all remember seeing that carriage in the Lord Bafford intro movie, how come there aren't any during the game? Or a stable or horses, dogs, birds etc... The cats were too cool! definitely added reality to the game. Now only if we knew how people went places in those teeny tiny streets with no wheels to take them there

- I know I'm gonna be shot down for saying this: Children. Regular live ones! Even if they're gonna be sleeping or just a sound file that can be played in the City as a noise from the houses.

- A recent topic in the TTLG forums made this quite... important.......... toilets! Even if they're just a hole in a plank of wood. It's quite hilarious to go through a huge mansion, find 2 dozen people living there, tons of gold & gems, several marble bathtubs & not a single corner for anyone to relief themselves. Pretty please?

This is what I can think of at the moment, if I come up with anything else I'll add it in another post.

Hello, MsMedieval!

There are no live children or horses or quadrupeds because children would be pointlessly killed and so would harmless animals, but most importantly, horses and carriages couldn't be made under the many constraints, and quadrupeds are difficult with a small team and budget and in general. The lack of these things is not an oversight, but due to many problems associated with implementation under tight circumstances. Same with TDS water and rope arrows. They wanted to put them in but the means was taken from them by a programmer who didn't do his job, and was taken off the project before he could fix things, and no one knew until it was too late.

Oh and I'd like to see more secret passages especially behind bookshelves but in general I've always felt that there weren't enough. Don't recall which version but i really like the one level where at least 50% of the rooms had secrets in them usually a little red button hidden somewhere activated it. I like the tapestries hiding things and paintings hiding a safe.

I'd also like to see at least 1 complex puzzle in the game something where you would have to do several things in the right order in order to proceed or find a treasure.

Oh i know what would be neat.... if Garret had to face a thieves guild with lots of secrets plenty of loot and at least 1 puzzle to find the hidden stash. But the thieves you contend with needs to act like a thief and hide in shadows move silently and slowly so if you aren't paying attention you would get spotted and possible hurt.

the big mansion in Thief 2 had all the secret hallways from all of the bedrooms and I thought that was really cool. I loved swiping the sword around on tapestries and occasionally finding some loot behind one, or pressing a button and hearing a door.. somewhere, opening.

Obviously. At that time you were the first person to be reported.
Today, I have had to PM other people because they have been reported too.... so all is fair in love and war.

The flaming and moments of profanity going on in here is deplorable. If this continues, I will issue out temp bans with NO explanations - you will no doubt be intelligent enough to know why you got banned. A temp ban is a warning. After that, it's a perm ban.

I'm closing this thread now in favour of a fresh one as it has reached 100 pages and it's strayed from topic somewhat.

Let's keep it real for the new thread please, thank you.
