Default Idea for tomb raider sequel

Quick notice: If there is a thread of a want-list, moderators - please move it to that thread.

My idea is about giants.
I live in a tiny country called Malta (in Europe), very nice for tourism. I noticed that we have small temples on our islands that have a resemblance to the british Stonehenge. Infact historians have theorised that these temples have been actually built by a race of giants

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C4%A0gantija <-- here's a link to one of the temples that i was refering to

This would be really nice... If Lara gets to go to these hidden temples..the ones in Malta..and some hidden ones in or near Stone Henge. And finds out the history of these giants. Which could have something to do with one of her dad's unfinished research or something.

Also, in 1996, before lara began her quest to find the scion, lara was on a magazine for catching bigfoot...What if bigfoot, and Yeti are related to these giants.. who made this ancient society... but she was in the middle of Natla's work to notice it.

I also remembered that Yeti's appeared in Tomb Raider Underworld. What if they were undead workers of the giant society who lived side-by side with humans?

This is all a big question mark on how i would put it together, but if you're interested, it would fit nicely to Lara's portfolio.

Feedback positive or negative is appreciated. Especially from Eidos or Crystal Dynamics.

Wow, that sure is a positive way to begin a sequel... A new story altogether with hints from past adventures... I would love to get to know about Giants and hear Lara's view on them...

She really ought to start investigating Giants. Perhaps they were holders to a special artefact? And it still exists and lives in the very temples you speak of?

Very good idea mate, I can see where you're going with it.

Wow, this concept is both very original, and reinforces the continuity of the TR mythos with it's references to Lara's history (referring to her exploration of Yeti's as established in TR1). Well done

A nice idea

One thing I would suggest, though, is that in TR:L/U (and sortof TR:A), we saw the same myth integrated into various locations, so we could have Lara trotting all over the globe, and it would relate to the one myth, or variant of. (In TR:L, we had the sword/dais in Bolivia, England, Nepal, Japan, Kazakhstan, and Ghana, as part of the monomyth idea. In TR:U it was essentially the same, with ruins of Thor/Norse/Atlantis buried underneath more modern temples). The idea of giants on Malta is cool, but I would suggest that it be a part of stories with other giants (and some atlantean/mythical technology related to it, like the dais/sword in TR:L, and the Hammer/belt in TR:U), or a part of a larger plot.
As part of a larger "Giant" monomyth type thing, it seems a plausible-enough story to me. (I'm not sure if people would yet be tired of the monomyth concept yet, but it was what TR:L/U were doing).

Well, I would love to see this as a grand mythos, but not that Natla is somehow involved. Because it would be too repetitive (story-wise) making it boring. If we meet characters from old Core Designed Characters such as Dr. Willard or maybe the Fiamma Nera cult (excluding Mr. Bartoli) , that would be nice (no need to make a whole remake of it, just mention his or her return as a fit to the story)

I also remembered.. in the Comics made by top-cow, The plane crash of Croft family was caused by the butler as a desperate attempt to claim the land and property of the Croft family. If this is mentioned also in the next game, or maybe the butler makes a more active role in the story, maybe he can be fit in to this story.

Another Idea to my mind... I am still clueless on how Alister and Zip met Lara... Another idea that would be cool to mention into the sequel.

Again, Positive or Negative replies are welcome to my comment.

The next tomb raider to have abit of a rest I think, stay in one place, like Uncharted or The Last Revelation. All the globe trotting stuff gets a little boring when they place the same enemies in every location. Malta is a great idea, but I don't see a american studio not sticking the stereotypical countries.

Regarding the your comment of globe-trotting:
I think that's what makes Tomb Raider a top-seller - the backgrounds are generally awesome to look at. Infact that's one of the reasons why Tomb Raider Underworld is one of the best games on my list. But i wouldn't mind Lara trotting 1 place for a whole game.. Just make it long enough to enjoy without making the player run in circles

Reguarding Stereotypical countries:
I totally agree! But I would only disagree if a totally irrelevant myth is placed in this non-related country. Example... I wouldn't make the center of a vampire case in.. say.. Japan... I would defenatly put Romania since that was the origin.

I hope my idea reaches the ear of Eidos or Crystal Dynamics. If possible that is...

I had the same hope for my idea, but unfortuneately it probably won't happen. I'm not here to crush your dreams, I'm only telling you what I think. Anyways the giants sound cool!

Great idea! And like RG said, it could be Lara hopping from one locale to the next! It's an excellent idea though! Good job!

Personally, I would doubt that this sort of thing would reach the dev team, although the option is always open for FanFic, or other forms of media such as TR-inspired films, or fan artwork, or even TRLE levels.

If it is of any conselation - Malta had one of the oldest civilisation in history, much older then the egyptian pyramids! If you guys are interested, simply search for Malta on wikipedia.

Omg! i went to Malta/Gozo in 2005 August, it was AMAZING! I was only like, 9 nearly 10. but man, it was sooooooooo hot and gorge. i stayed in gozo and went to vsiit Malta for a day, i loved it sooo much, the beaches are fab and everything, we stayed in a gorge villa with a spiral staircase and massive pool, it was anear a resturant where you could get pear lecure or something like it, and that tasted disgusting, but yes! i totally agree, i could find some pics on my computer and leave them on the thread, but i'd have to give a link because i can't attach pics at the mo. it truely is beautiful there and i totally agree with you! i'll sarch right now, if not, then i'll go to my dads and ask him, or post some pics of my holiday there! Also, later that year i went to disney land florida in december for christmas and i opened sum prezies there and it was brill, but Malta wud be a fab location, along with menorca and majorca.

I like the idea very much

The small countries like Malta and mine are very misterious you know.
In Macedonia where I live, has been found a megalithic observatory and little is known for it. It's called Kokino and it is fourth on the list of ancient observatories.

1.Abu Simbel, Egypt
2.Stonehenge, Great Britain
3.Angkor Wat, Cambodia
4.Kokino, Macedonia

It would be very interesting if Lara discovers the mystery

Lara's never been to cambodia properly, i'd like to see that in the next game and Macedonia sounds cool, i'd like to see more european countries in Tomb Raider, they have such a rich background. Lara has only really been to UK, Ireland, Russia, Italy, and Czech Republic in europe. Or go to places like Sri Lanka, Singapore, India, or even small countries like Malta, or Cyprus. Or even go to Turkey, she's not been there?

I'm glad you guys like Macedonia I pointed Kokino as an example but there are lot of mysteries. I just thought that Kokino is the best yet
