Yeah, same problem here. Just installed the latest 185.65 drivers which were said to improve performance in various games. No difference. This is a quad-core 3Ghz , 4GB Ram, GTX 280 PC with Vista 64bit SP1.
The game ran fine on the first level "Avalon" until I reached the door scene where you put two stones on step stones and swing to the lever to open the door. This is totally unplayable with 1680x1050 4xAA16xAF... Is another patch in the works? |

I wonder if this is the same problem that i have with the game since release. You get to the door with the two pressure pads and the frame rate just goes through the floor.
If i alt-tab out and then go back in it returns to normal, then a bit more into the kraken level it will go again. Why has this not been fixed ?? C'mon crystal the games been out for ages why the hell hasn't this been sorted out. |

also this issue didn't occur with the base version 1.0 as far as I recall, for me it started with patch 1.1 but i can't be a 100% sure. Given this issue occurs in this way it suggests perhaps timing issue, I don't know, just a speculation, but as it seems to happen no high end cards and the framerates are generally very good. Funny that the readme for patch 1.1 says A change to re-enable use of some graphics card features on ATI hardware, with their latest drivers. + Progress has been made towards addressing stalling on GeForce 6/7 series hardware. Perhaps they made some things worse in the process, but to be fair it may be something relating to windows drivers and hardware rahter than the game itself, that said, it is up to CD to provide the answer, a workaround of some sort if there is one. one thing you might try on XP users, I haven't yet, but will next time i play the game to try and see what happens to add the ptimer switch to the windows startup. I'll try that an see what happens and let you know. On a second note while I think this game runs well on lower end cards like the ati 1900, it is the only game where the 4870 didnt give as much of a jump as I had expected, I mean nothing to worry about, it runs fine, but the scaling with increasing GPU power doesn't seem all that great. I can't max it, that's for sure on the AA and AF by some way. however I am not obsessed by that like some to want to be able to max everything, it does look very good anyway ![]() I'd like to ask if anyone here raised a ticket regarding this and also does anyone know if a patch is planned by CD ? I think raising such issues are only worth it if we know CD is planning on a 1.2 release, if not, it is a waste of time, like with Anniversary there were never any plans to make a patch, and the EIDOS support desk is useless in any case, so raising a ticket would never get you anywhere unless we know that info goes to the developers to be analysed. Reducing AA to 2x has eliminated the problem on my PC. At least for now. I am currently playing the "New Mexico" levels and the stuttering has not occured again.

i had the same problem with my gtx 285. at first it was great. i got all the way through the med. sea with 16xq AA running smooth as butter. then i got to Thailand. i probably didn't even reach 20fps. needless to say i was quite angry because this is a $400 card here! this is how i fixed it:
1.right-click your desktop and select Nvidia control panel 2.once you get to the spinning logo page, select "use the advance 3D image settings" and then click take me there. 3.find anti-aliasing transparency and set it too multisampling (or off if you want even more performance, although i don't recommend it because you'll see some jagged edges). i also recommend you set AA and AF to app. controlled 4.crank up the AA to 16xq and have fun with your buttery smooth frame-rate

For me it only occurs in the kraken level, the rest was fine.
The advice from crystal was to turn off full screen effects for this level, but i want it fixed. I paid good money for this earnt from the sweat of my brow, fix it crystal. We are not all rich overpaid programmers, you know !! I don't believe that this problem didn't rear it's ugly head in testing, I think they thought release it anyway and deal with the flac later. Legend is a complete mess on my pc, frame rate drops, invisible textures, you name it. |

For those of you interested, I made a post about this issue a few threads back called possible game fix. Basically I had an issue with my nvidia 285 card stuttering or dropping framerates to unplayable levels. I changed a setting in nvidia control panel to use only one cpu instead of 4 (I have the quad core intel I7). Now I can set everything to max and run the game perfectly, without any problems, start to finish.
The only problem was my saved games folder. Once it goes weird, you have to fix the folder or it will never go away. Read the thread for solution. Happy gaming. |
