Default Events in Montréal This November

Hi everyone,

I know most of you live far far away from us here in Montréal but I wanted to let you know about some events this month where you could catch an in-person glimpse of DX3 and talk to the development team.

----------------
November 7, 8, 9
Festival Arcadia

This is a huge public/consumer trade show where we (Eidos) will have a booth showing off Tomb Raider Underworld, FEAR 2, Lego Batman, and of course Deus Ex 3. But before you get too excited, no DX3 will not be playable, but we will have a tonne of art on display which hasn't been seen in public yet and members of the dev team may be there to talk to. On top of that, on the Saturday, there is a real fashion show where some Montréal designers made outfits for Lara Croft. With an actual runway and models, these outfits will be judged and the winning outfit will be available as downloadable content for the game. Toby Gard, the creator of Lara, will be there, and that's on top of all the other gaming companies showing off their stuff. There's a tonne of other fun things happening so it should be a cool three days.

More info can be found here and here.

----------------
November 15
Open House at Eidos Montréal

Come and visit the hottest game studio in town! We are opening our doors from 10am-5pm on Saturday November 15 where you'll be able to tour the studio, catch a glimpse of who-knows-what(!), and talk to members of the DX3 development team. The atmosphere should be quite lively and entertaining as we'll be having contests and doing other fun things. It's also a great chance to drop off a CV. You can find more details and pictures in the Facebook event!

----------------
November 18-19
Montréal International Games Summit (MIGS)

MIGS is really more of a professional industry event (think GDC) and I'm not even sure about its public availability, however Edge is giving away tickets including two nights in a nearby hotel. When it comes to Deus Ex, our Art Director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête will be giving a presentation entitled "Stylised Realism in Character Art" (related to DX3, no?) and the Keynote speech will be from some guy called Warren Spector. I dunno. Never heard of him...

So anyway, I know these are probably inaccessible to most of you, however if anyone lives in or around Montréal, there's a lot happening this month!

If I can get up on the 15th I'll be at the open house. No guarantees though.

I envy you, I really do. Can we non-Quebecois have some photos and information after the events, at least?

If I can get there, I'll take pics and notes. Assuming that they don't confiscate the camera because of an NDA

Well, I live about an 20 hour flight away from Montreal so it's a no go for me.

But I request that many photo's are taken by those who go. If allowed. I would love to see them.

Is there anything planned further out? December, January? November is kind of short notice for people who will need to get off work or make plans(can you believe it's the 4th already?).

I envy you people who live near Montreal!

Sounds amazing and hopefully we'll be able to read (and see!) some new info.

I am surprised that nobody is asking...

WTF is Spector doing there? Is his keynote about DX 3? If so... why him, since he has nothing to do with the project.... I mean.... Whaaaaaa???

People going over there, don't forget to take some chloroform and a DX3 handkerchief to capture a dev. "What do you think of this.."

I wish I was working somewhere close
