Any idea what that ship is, wich got hit by a 1000kg bomb or something worse? 14" guns on minimum, but the Tertiary armament is bit goofy... The guns are not big enough to be a Iowa class battleship and the Tertiary armament differs from the King George class battleships... Hm.. Could that be a North Carolina? Though the deck color is bit off i think..

Could it be a king george, you can't really see the barrels.

I dont think that its an Iowa. Look through the explosion and you can see the bow of the ship, which is more rounded then would be an Iowa. Then again, whatever it is, it got rocked.!!!!

It looks very much like an Iowa to me. That ship has to be one of the modern American battleships, with its aircraft equipment on the stern and the 5 twin turrets on two levels on each side for the secondary armament, and it looks longer than either of the two other types of ships it could be, which are the North Carolina and South Dakota classes. Two funnels means it can't be a South Dakota, and the funnels are to far apart for it to be a North Carolina.

The South Dakota had two funnels in 1943 not that far apart but it had two funnels

Based on the flak it looks like a kamikaze attack

Looks like there is a new destroyer (or destroyer escourt) and a new light crusier
