Exclamation "A new kind of playable character..."

"Tomb Raider: Underworld - Lara's Shadow will introduce players to a new kind of playable character..."

That's what Eidos are saying. But why a "new kind" of playable character? What's wrong with just saying a new playable character? Me thinks something maybe afoot...

Anyone else find it a bit sus?

Yes. I'm scared of a Kurtis repeat.

It's only related to DLC so it doesn't bother me.

''new kind of playable character'' doesn't sound like its necessarily a person, could be a doppleganger(probably horribly spelled that) or something.

Anyhow people are getting too worked up about it, its only DLC and doesn't effect Underworld at all really, just something extra after your finished with the actual game.

It's just the fact that they've used the term "a new kind", makes it sound like it's not just an extra playable character, like there's more to it.

This is for the Xbox 360 isn't it?

I dunno I guess it makes sense to just call a new playable character just that.

Being 'sus' depends on the character, maybe. Wonder who it is?

*shudders at the thought of possibilities*

For all we know, it could be a velociraptor or something -- then it'd be more than a character. I think this is interesting, I hope we get to read/see more of it in time.

Maybe you can play as one of the animals. You'll have to run away from Lara while she is trying to shoot your arse. That way you'll realize what it's like to be an endangered species.

Boycott fur, ivory and everything else that required the murdering of innocent and helpless animals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could careless actually what it is, its not a mandatory thing to get and doesnt affect the main game itself what so ever, so ill wait to see new information before even deciding to get this ''new kind'' of character DLC.

Maybe he'll come back in a ''shoot em up'' mini game, where you gotta see how many kurtis's you can take out before the time limit is up

Like an outfit you'll unlock? If so, then who cares, it won't affect the game, it's just an outfit.

I feel really stupid asking this but what is DLC?

its just an add on to Underworld with extra playable levels, it doesn't affect the storyline at all Raiderx and has no huge significance to it. That's why I tell people that its no big deal.

It's not a big deal because others on wii,ps2,ps3,pc don't have it, thats not it at all and if people thinks thats what ive been saying then they're mistaken.

I'm saying its just not that big of a deal BECAUSE it doesn't have any impact on the story at all and its just a couple extra levels.

A new 'kind' of playable character doesn't even sound like another playable character other than Lara to me. Lets look at what was said;

'"Tomb Raider: Underworld - Lara's Shadow will introduce players to a new kind of playable character..."

The 'shadow' to me seems to be metaphorical, meaning that darker edge to Lara namely that determination to reach her goals she seems to have in this game that makes her slightly more dangerous. This is what will make lara 'a new kind of playable character.'

well i think so anyway!

oh ok, then yeah it's no big deal since it doesn't affect the storyline and they don't have to download it.

It's like the Croft Manor in TRL and TRA was technically a level but it didn't affect the storyline, so it will be something like that, it's for the 360? If it is I'll get it if it's free, because I don't have any points to buy anything anyways.

I highly doubt that we're going to play any other character than Lara, so don't worry.

I'm not going to make any guesses as to what this new kind of playable character is, simply because I honestly don't have a clue. However, I am glad that it is being introduced into the series.

It may be DLC, but it certainly shows that Eidos and CD are considering the potential of another playable character within the series...I'm sure if this new character becomes popular enough or is successful within its own spinoff extra...then they just might incorporate it/him/her within the canon and lore of the main series.

Personally, I like what they're doing and even more excited by the possibilities it might bring forth.

Yeah its not going to have any sort of impact on the main game and its just extra add on levels to play around with.

It will probably cost microsoft points. Not sure how many.

and also the playable character, CD/EIDOS's wont stretch it too much, if anything it will probably either be another version of Lara like someone else said somewhere about a darker side of Lara or probably one of the characters from the actual Underworld game itself.

This just might be my flights of fanboy fancy...but I'm actually hoping it's a significant character, that they could introduce into the main story line.

Even though it's titled "Lara's Shadow" I don't think it'll be anything as literal as her darker-side or her actual shadow (or at least I hope not...that'd be kind of cliche in my opinion).

Perhaps it might be someone who is trailing Lara...somone who is possibly keeping track of her every move and following unbeknownst to Lara herself? Maybe an admirer? An aspiring Raider? A new rival? This is all just speculation...but I certainly hope it's something along the lines of another person that is following and tracking her; shadowing her if you will. It could certainly have the potential of adding to the main story...and I hope that's what Eidos and CD are trying to do.
