LOL

What do you expect when you're being put in such a critical position?
Being an official model of a highly popular character is like replacing a really popular musician or actor.
You'll be criticized from all sides in many different ways.

If I met her in person I would honestly say I don't think she's fitting if I was asked.
Why couldn't I say that? Should I say "Oh, you're perfect!" while I don't think so?
She and all other people should just understand that it's not about her looks or personality.
Because she's a beautiful girl, she might be nice too.
Does she look enough like the character Lara Croft? No... that's all.

Also THAT comes with the job...
That's not to say we can say terrible things about her that we don't know of.
But we can and should be able to say what we think of her when doing her job.

I expect people to stay polite. Just like in real life you do not laugh into someones face when you do not agree with them.

Just like now. If you were standing right in front of me you would not dare to laugh out loud after I said what I said. You would get a friendly punch in the face if you did.

HAY, I wouldn't hit Allison for not looking like Lara would I?! :P
Or laugh at her... I would just talk to her... I can still stay polite...
I would only do something back if she's start kicking me around. XD

Maybe you want to rephrase that. I am not in the mood for your impertinence.

The concept of being polite seems to be completely alien to you.

Oh, come on. This is also kind of impolite to say.

I feel that this thread is full of overacting on both sides.
I was nearly shouted at by your collegue here without any good reason a few days ago just because I "dared" to point out to him that I strongly believed he didn't use the right words. I was trying my best to be polite and nice. His reaction was rather inadequate and it hurt me because I'm certainly no trouble maker and he treated me like one.
There's something strange and unhealthy happening in this thread.

Maybe it's because we're talking about one pretty girl here and emotions get out of control more easily or something

Or you could go the "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all" route. That might be best. Seeing as how the fact that Alison is the new Lara Croft really isn't affecting you personally in any way. If it is, then perhaps one should take a closer look at what's truly important to them? Hmm?

If you don't like someone because they ARE truly despicable, then of course I would not dream of telling you to back down. However, not liking someone just because you don't like them. . .best to just ignore and let it be. We've heard your say and how you feel. . .allow the rest of us to have our own feelings as well AND allow us to be excited by them.

Hi, people!
Hm... I'm new here and I've read some part of your conversation about Alison and I have some thoughts to share. Firstly, I don't get the idea of talking about the politeness at all. I think that people here can say everything that they want except rudeness and insults. Especially discussing models. Secondly, I don't like Alison as Lara Croft's model. That doesn't mean that she's bad or something like that, but it means that for me she doesn't suits the role of Lara Croft. Even if she can do some acrobatics. Lara is different. She's not just a hero, not just a girl with well-known face, she's a person. Alison is a person too. But they're different. Though I must admit that they have something in common in appearance.
And what if she's reading these lines now? Then I want to say good luck to her - being Lara Croft isn't an easy job. And still if she was chosen for this role, it means that there's something in her...

Now this is the way to do it. You can be polite and still speak your mind. So you don't like Alison as Lara Croft. Big deal, right? You still wish her well and see that your opinion is not the only one that matters. Thank you, Krestia.

Don't flame me, but she doesn't appeal to me.

From interviews I've seen she seems arrogant. And she doesn't pose like Lara Croft at all. You don't need to have your leg at your head in order to be Lara Croft.

I see none of Lara's attitude in her... No spirit, she looks like she's trying not to smile. :/

Also she looks like if you made her chest a bit smaller she'd be a 17 year old.

Well first off. I don't get how she seems arrogant in her interviews. I've seen the ones that have been posted online. Her leg over her head was more so of her showing off her athleticism. She shows off the athleticism the real Lara(i emphasize on 'real') should have since you don't go raiding tombs like Lara with no athleticism lol.

Yeah shes not for everyone I agree. People won't like her, some will. part of life

It's the same routine that happens everytime a new model is introduced, some hate em some like em

I like her I think she will be a good Lara. What I have read so far some of the
comments are mean give the girl a chance. Eidos would not have chosen her
if she wasn't going to be a good rep of Lara. I trust their judgement.

To be clear, I have no problem with her being the new Lara model.

Initially, when I read her age in the article, that startled me a bit because I was assuming they'd maybe go with someone a little older. I don't know what age Karima was when she was hired; but in any case, that was my only reaction to Alison.

She seems like a young, rookie Lara as in Lara began her raiding journeys the first few years of her adult life.
But I'm sure they will train Alison to feel the part as they have with Karima.

So I praise you, Eidos.

Yes, I should be the leading example, but you can only be patient for so long. If people still do not get it you need to be clearer. And if people still do not get it you need to send out warnings. That is where we are right now.

I will tell you tomorrow night how Alison is in real life.

I dig her visually. Facially, she reminds me of Karima (who I think is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen), and Alison is totally fit. Great Lara-ish bod - Probably the best body-wise in a while since Lara Weller, Jill de Jong, and Karima, although beautiful women, didn't quite match up to Lara's physique. And I dig that Alison is out there doing Lara's moves.

I haven't watched many videos of her, but in the one I did see, she kind of sounded like a little girl. Very high voice, at least for Lara. If Eidos is shelling out the big bucks for SAS training (which will do little for the gal, as we saw with Karima), they may as well give her voice lessons. Normally I wouldn't be bothered by this, but since she's supposed to be speaking as Lara...

All in all, though, I think Alison is great, and I hope she enjoys her time as Lady Croft.

big lol

"She was born in the London Borough of Croydon in England.

For 12 years she was a professional display gymnast, and represented Great Britain. She was also a children's gymnastics coach, choreographing the winning junior team at the British National Gymnastics Championships.

Since 2007 she has been a registered model, represented by MCS.[1]

In August 2008 she was announced as the new Lara Croft model for the latest game, Tomb Raider: Underworld. At the time she was working as a receptionist at a golf club. Carroll replaced Karima Adebibe, who retired from the role earlier in the year.

She is the first Lara Croft model with gymnastic skills."

Means new game version will be much much more harder? So so much?
