Default Beyond Revenge Lies Redemption - episode 1

Hello everyone,

I'm making a mod for Tomb Raider. The title isn't TR anymore, it is beyond Revenge Lies Redemption. This game will come in 2 episodes.

Storyline:
You play as Marion Craft. Her father was going to the Maya Temples with an expedition, but never returned. Marion goes to that place and she discover two portals, one will bring you to heaven, and one to hell. You choose the path...

All is maded by me, exepct some objects and static meshes. The graphics are a bit upgraded too!

I've screens online, but I thought that I can better let see the trailer I've made. The soundtrack was maded by my band:

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/y6nd2YbRjJ0&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/y6nd2YbRjJ0&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

Looking very good, loving the custom music you put together, only piece of CC i can give is to rotate some of the wall textures, its nothing major but considering how quickly it can be done it really will have a good effect ^,,^

I've created 2 desktop-screens. On the first you see Marion swimming, on the other one in action!

Nice screens. I think you overdid it a bit on the level of bump mapping, though.

I finally finished my exams, so I could develop BRLR further.
I've some news:

- The tutorial will be told with FMV sequences. In these movies movements can be seen how to it and it will be explained, so players that don't know the controls of this game know it in no-time!

- In August I hope to upload Beta 1. you can play then two levels heaven or two levels hell (or both, if you're interested).

I have also some new screens of the locations:

Soon i will reveal more news and updates...

The start with the hell levels has begun!

There are new updated gameplay elements in the hell levels. Fire plays a big part in it. Sometimes you need to let water flow over the fires, to make them out. You need to do some puzzles before you can let water flow.

I've some new updates:

1. Soon I will reveal a new trailer of the hell part of the game.

2. Béta 1 will come in November 2008

I've made a hell screen:

<a href="http://s256.photobucket.com/albums/hh193/larafriend/?action=view&current=MarionHel.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh193/larafriend/MarionHel.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Soon I will reveal more information about béta 1.

Finally there is MUCH news about BRLR - ep1. The béta 1 version is getting nearer to you...

First of all I will give some information about the levels until now, what to expect.

Marion's Manor (Training):

This level passed a lot of bug-fixing, so this level is now very stable. The crashing with the inventory has been fixed, because I've deleted the whole diary. The last version of TREP gave much problems with the diary function. I replaced the diary function with short FMV-movies and in the background you can see how Marion will perform the action.

Path Of The Maya Temples:

This is the first level of the big adventure! In this level you learn to use all the controls and you'll find Marion's first pistols. You begin in a big outside environment and you'll slowly dwell into the subterrainean Maya ruins to find the portals to Hell and Heaven. You fight against rats and snakes.

Here follow the new playable levels of béta 1:

Heaven Campaign (new):

1. J'rar, Underwater Caverns:

You begin in a big aquarium where different tests are performed of underwater testlabs. Failed experiment-beasts are waiting for you!

2. J'rar, Village:

This level plays outside the lab-water. In this level you enter the swamps. A new enemy is introduced in this level: The Heaven-Demon!

Hell Campaign (new):

1. Anthin, Outskirts:

You start on the coast, where you will be dropped. On the land big fireballs blow in the air. You need to watch out where you step your feet! The level takes you to subterrainean left places where big spiders never saw the daylight and wait for a prey...

This level I need to make, but when I have information, I will write it down.

Tomorrow follows new information, about the system requirements.

The news of this day:

1. System Requirements

Here you'll see 3 configurations on which you can play BRLR - ep1 - béta 1. They are minimal, normal and recommended.
On the minimal configuration you could play the game with all graphic options turned off:

Minimal Confuguration:

Processor: Pentium III or AMD Athlon series or higher 800 MHz
RAM: 1GB
Videocard: Nvidia FX series, ATI 9800 series 64-128MB
Harddisk: 350MB
Sound Card: On-Board Sound
Periphials: Keyboard or Gamepad

On the normal confuguration you could play the game with some graphic options turned on:

Processor: Pentium IV or AMD Athlon 64 2600+ 2,8 GHz
RAM: 1,5GB
Videocard: Nvidia 6800 series or ATI x800 128MB
Harddisk: 350MB
Sound Card: On-Board 16 bits Sound with 2.0 stereo

On the recommended configuration you could play the game on very high resolutions (up to 2048x1536 32-bit) and all graphic options turned on:

Processor: Pentium Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 3,0 GHz
RAM: 2GB
Videocard: Nvidia 7600GT series or ATI x1800 series or higher 256MB or greater
Harddisk: 350MB
Sound Card: Creative Audigy SE Advanced EAX HD 3.0 24-bits 5.1 surround or better

Operating System Support: Windows XP & Windows Vista only!

You should be a liitle bit surprised why the system requirements are so high:

- The music is now of a higher level. I had buyed an EAX 3.0 sound card to make the ambience sound very realistic. The extension from .WAV has gone to .OGG because OGG gives much better sound. Further is the music enhanced for thos who have an 5.1 surround system. This takes much processor-performance.

- The textures have a higher resolution, normally it was 64x64, and now is it 128x128 and some even 256x256. All textures are created by myself and there are much bump effects and parallax mapping in it. The world is now much more realistic becaue of this. This takes some memory on the videocard.

- The whole fog is gone now! (was also in the alpha version). So now you can see everything how far the eye reach! There is also much vegetation in the game, so the videocard needs many performance for this!

Further there is an update with the installation of the game. Where I created for the alpha version a very simple install program (innosetup), it will now be very advanced. Under the installment you'll see (hopefully) some pictures of in-game. This can only with the real installment program, yes, Installshield Premiere 2009!

Soon I will release some new screens.

I've created a new screen of the first hell level:

And there is a new gameplay update in hell:

Sometimes you need to get on a bike, but it's not boring. Now you need to watch out for fires coming out everywhere, so good eyes are needed!

Hi Larafriend, it's great to see you making a real go of this and I wish you the very best with the release when it's ready. You can see your skills developing nicely with each new screenshot.

wouldn't it be nice if everyone makes a thread here once they start building levels and over the years keep updating that thread with new screenshots so that people can see how a level develops from a few rooms with basic tut1-like textures into a stunning multi-level masterpiece

Great news:

The first level of the hell campaign is finished!

Now I'm going to make the second level, and if that level is also finished, béta 1 is ready for download...

After a still period in de media, it's time to announce some things. In that still period, I worked hard on the game.
Now I'm busy programming a whole castle and the last level for the open béta version is thus almost finished.

This week I will upload a lot of new screens and even a 2nd trailer with the soundtrack of one song of my last album.

More news will come this week,

Nicky Spanjaards
