Thumbs up Tomb Raider Anniversary Mac!

Did I miss something? I hadn't seen this posted yet, so I hope this isn't old news.

I was poking around the other day, like any good security officer, and I beheld...a miracle!

Quote:
After a few years AWOL from our beloved Mac, the First Lady of gaming returns in her biggest adventure to date. Tomb Raider Anniversary takes Lara Croft back to the places where it all began, only this time with gorgeous graphics, massive puzzles, and a new fluid movement set that make this Tomb Raider the most acrobatic we've ever seen.
I'm so excited, I can barely type! Yay, at last a Mac version! Brought to you by Feral Interactive. So, apparently another player in the development of Tomb Raider for other platforms. No actual release date, as far as I can tell, but you can preorder. It will be only for Intel Macs initially, but they mention a universal version later in 2008.

Yep, you heard it here first, folks. I actually saw this yesterday, but it required a password at the time, so I assume it was just being readied for release.

I used to complain that before Legend, every other version of Tomb Raider was available for the Mac, then Legend was available for every other platform on the planet except the Mac. OK, so us Mac users missed out on Legend, at least we now have Anniversary. Thanks Eidos. You won't regret it. I'll buy a copy, and I have a friend who'll buy a copy, and Deekman will buy a copy, and probably Blowhard and Mr. Metro will buy a copy, so there's a half-dozen sales already.

Oh, almost forgot the link hehe.

Hey, this is great news, Ruum!
(And I'll spread the WORD, where I can!)

I have a question for you, Mac folks. . .
Would a Unix/Linux version run easier or better on your machines?
Leopard Open Brand UNIX 03
(There is one developer, that I know, who always insists upon producing a Linux version for like EVERY version of his games. And then his Mac version magically appears, almost at the same time.)

Cool there's always ruum for a mac port ...

mac modding! woot! woot!!!

nice find ruum, its about time ...

@tiger~ a proper mac build would exploit more than its UNIX underpinning. these developers will use the Quartz graphics interface to make the game stunning!!!

... when the dust settles, i may own 4 or 5 copies of TRA alone!
(i probably shouldn't say that too loudly ...)

Why not? It's all in name of Croft anyway.

Hehe, as Treeble implied, you can't have too much Croft or Tomb Raider.

Just to continue the tangent for a post or two, Mr. Metro, I assume you have the appropriate desktop picture for your iPod Touch (very cool, BTW). Also, the sports watch you mentioned, is that the Timex clip watch (forget the exact name)? I saw one in the stores years ago, and I didn't need another timepiece, but I should have picked it up. Oh well.

Thanks everyone. For years I've read informative breaking news from various credible sources here on these forums. I've finally fulfilled one of my goals and was able to report a piece of breaking news that I stumbled upon, and very appropriate too, I might add.

Yes, Mr. Metro, the Timex TMX Grip Clip watch is the one I was thinking of.

Dude, is there something wrong with asking people for some advice about the legitimacy of the source first?

I've already experienced problems installing updates for my MAC, it ended up in a coma for the remainder of the weekend until I could take it back to the shop.

I think what Mr. Metro is trying to say, in his own rabid way, is that Feral is considered a reputable source, in my (and our) opinion. I wouldn't hesitate to download something from Feral or Eidos, for example. One source for the demo which is linked from the Feral site is macgamefiles.com. In my experience, games I've downloaded from reputable sources (like Feral) hosted by macgamefiles were fine. Regretably, I don't have an Intel Mac yet, so I can't tell you I've tried the Anniversary demo. I hope this answers your question, Pot.

Thanks that is what I wanted to hear. I am not sure about installing yet it in case it screws up my frettings. I'm stuck in house for a few weeks, got a broken foot and I'd hate to be without my internet if something did go wrong.

Yeah, I figured what the hell. Probably gonna buy it as well, it seems pretty good. A little bit jumpy at times and made my 2GHz CPU fan start whurring, but I also had iTunes and safari still running.

That'll be my second copy of the game. I only 12.50 for the PSP version though so I can't complain.

It is never going to be what I want out of a Tomb Raider game, but it is better than nothing. I like the way the distance goes all blurry, nice effect. Better than it going all black an patchy like in the old days, although that did give the game a great perspective too.

EDIT I just realised exactly what the blurry effect is in the second picture, it's waterfall mist! Nice touch.
