Wink Most Tedious/Unattractive Level?

LegendLost has started a most excellent discussion about our favourite levels and so as not to ruin it too much by overlapping with our least favourites perhaps we can pop them in here

I can think of a few that inspire huge yawns and feelings of 'Oh no it's this level again'

The Temple of Xian is one such level - it seems to go on forever and a day.

Another level I get bored of is the Louvre Storm Drains (AoD), where you have to go all over the place looking for valves and such to work that machine. Sooo much climbing, diving, monkey-swinging and such. Then we are expected to pick up chocolate bars from the sewer floor where the rats are

For me it's Tomb Of Qualopec in TRI just because this level gets on my nerves or River Ganges in TRIII. Not because I don't like this level but just because we have to keep going back and forward through the jungle and over the big tree branch, but I did love the quad in this level and the big dive at the end off of the waterfall. I also didn't like Lost Temple Of Tinnos, also in TRIII, I found it long, and quite boring

Tee hee I agree with you both!

Actually I get a bit fed up now playing the Barkhang Monastery (TRII). It was one of the greatest levels when first played but these days I find it a bit too drawn out.

I hate Venice. All of it. I'd level skip the whole thing except there's some good pickups.

Wow Lisa, you are the first member I think to not have enjoyed Venice

But, depending on how many times you have played, it can get a bit loathsome. There are some handy skips and shortcuts however. I think Opera House gets a bit tedious I have to admit though

I too found the 'Lourve Storm Drains' level a bit repetitive It didn't help that I walked past a valve many times without realising it's presence

Also in AOD, I found the part in the 'Tomb of Ancients' level, where you have to keep jumping cautiously onto ledges built like a set of stairs, fairly boring indeed

Aww, thanks for giving me credit. Anywho... My least favorite levels, hmmmm..... Well, I was never fond of

Tomb Raider 1 - The cistern (It's just ugly looking, lol)
Tomb Raider 2 - 40 Fathoms - The Deck (they're stunning, But I played them too much and I'm sick of them by now)
Chronicles - Russia - Deep Sea Dive (just boring)
AOD - The Strahov Fortress ( I just hate it, lol)
Legend - Peru - (The part thats a flash back)(just found it very tedious and slow going)
Legend- England (Just not my cup o' tea)
Anniversary - Once again - The cistern/Tomb Of Tihocan (just boring and ekk)

Everything else I don't Mind!

Glad I am not the only one Duke where those wretched storm drains are concerned!!

Hi LL, Those 40 Fathoms and The Deck levels were truly 'ongoing'. I had several migraines on those levels. I also hated the fact that our Crofty insisted on wearing no footwear Forget all of the predators I thought she was in more danger of incurring a nasty cut to her feet

Hmm, for me it must be those very petty little Kanark levels from TR4. The horrible amount of crawl spaces, and then you have to go through the pain of turning round and dropping out of the ledge. Ugh, I really do not enjoy those levels.

Have you ever wondered why the boot sound for her feet came back in The Deck? Because she's had three levels running around in bare feet and they've gotten so hard they sound like normal boots.

Oddly enough, I really liked The Storm Drains in AOD! I remember when I first played that level, I kept thinking, "Now THIS is Tomb Raider! Why do people complaining about this game??" To me, it felt like a classic level and was a lot of fun.

I just loved the music. It was the original theme playing in a new way. If you listen closely of course. And I like the storm drains as well. Kinda tedious, but fun in the end! ............"Dive girl, Dive"

I did like the music for Lourve storm drains as well, not too keen on level though if there was one level i actually enjoyed in AOD was the Hall of seasons now that was a challenge

TR1: -none-

TR2: Ice palace and Living Quarters - because they're very annoying to go through.. I love Ice palace, but just going through it, and arriving to the giant bird-like monster takes a while, let alone the level before it. Living Quarters just annoyed me, I just dislike re-playing the level, even when attempting to speed tun the level.

TR3: Temple Ruins/Temple of Puna/Aldwych/All Antarctic levels - They're too long, too many keys, too many traps.. Pretty much impossible. Takes forever to do, and very aggravating.

TR4: -None, yet-

TR5: Gallows Tree/Red Alert/Russia levels - Tedious...

TR6: -None, yet-

TR7: Russia on Speedrun - I dislike it, because of the second Motorcycle game-play, along with that the constant men running around and shooting at you, also sometimes the bike part took longer than it was intended to take.. Damned Time Trials.

TR1B: Obelisk of Khamoon - Too much climbing (I don't really mind that, but this was unnecessary) Too many traps in some rooms.. Easily fall from ledges, but over all it was better than the original, but at the same time I think the original level was much easier on the players.

Tomb Raider: The Cistern (ugly) and all of Atlantis (UGLIER)

Tomb Raider II: The Wreck of the Maria Doria (just...blah), Catacombs of the Talion, and Ice Palace (both rather tedious and oftentimes unfun)

Tomb Raider III: Caves of Kaliya (I HATE THE SNAKES!!!!), Temple of Puna (ridiculously difficult), all of London (tedious, too dark, unfun), and the Meteorite Cavern (I hate that boss fight)

TLR: The City of the Dead block of levels, as they frustrated me to no end. Otherwise, this game varies with boredom and excitement, but at least the boring parts don't last long.

TRC: The last two chapters. No explanation needed.

AoD: Too many to name, but I don't like the Kurtis Trent levels at all.

Legend: Kazakhstan is the only one that I remember dreading to play when returning to it. I didn't like facing all those mercs, and chasing the train irked me quite a bit.

Anniversary: Since this is the only TR game I have played through only once, I can't say what levels I won't be looking forward to, as I enjoyed the game immensely. Probably the only thing I don't want to face again is that 3rd platform in the Great Pyramid, but I see how to do the shortcut and don't think it will be a problem when and if I ever get to replay that level.

I don't like the Coatal Village levels either. Crash Site is OK but most of it I find tedious and I try to leave it to near the end before playing those areas.

I don't even bother with killing all the dinosaurs on Crash Site at the end as there are too many to bother with. I just shoot a whole in the rear wall and make a run for it to the level exit

Personally, I quite liked the creepy atmosphere of Young Lara exploring the Scottish Highlands. Ever play TRI all the way through with pistols only and using absolutely no medpacks? try it!
Visiting Von Croy Industries was more fun to me, mainly because it was set in Brooklyn. This I know because of the view of the Manhattan skyline that is seen in those levels can only be had from Brooklyn!

You know, Mangar, I felt exactly the same way Although I didn't understand why I found running round the sewers so enjoyable, I did. And the music was good.

I found the Strahov Fortress a touch tedious though.

The Maria Doria levels went on far too long for me... Although I kept getting lost, so it felt like they went on forever!

Lava tower in TRA. Damn timed bars! -cries-
Maria Doria in TRII. I really hate sharks.
Jungle levels in TRIII, those tigers really scared me :S
And I didn't like almost everything in AOD.

I agree. AOD was possibly my fave game so far. *hides from torrent of gasps*

I found Ghana HELL. Sorry. It just annoyed me now there were so many bits and pieces and you had to keep deciding where to go and worrying about missing secrets (yes they're relics now, but I still stubbornly call them secrets).
