Unhappy 'Checking PS2 Memory Card' issue on PC version

I got to a point in the game which then resulted in a crash and when I start the game back up to continue where I left off, I get the error shown below (in the image link). I have started from a new game and the game crashes in the same place and the same thing happens.

I don't remember exactly where it was now and I am not going to go through a third time.

Can anyone help?

Have you been to the Playstation website? They have technical support that tells you how to do a self diagnostic on the console and the game. You might want to chek to make sure the game disc or the memory card isn't corrupted.

Oh, okay. So is it's a Playstation prompt on a PC version of the game?

I only see that message everytime I start up a game on the PS2, so I just assumed you were playing on PS2.

Well I'm guessing a corrupt profile file or something. I know almost nothing in terms of troubleshooting the game, which is why I haven't said much of anything here.

Hm, the PC version is somewhat of a PS2 port, but still very hard to believe this is.

Download the savegames and see which one brings you closest to the point where you left.

I'm not sure that will be good enough. In order for him to receive a PS2 message on PC, I'm almost certain his profile would have to be corrupt. If I'm correct (and I might very well not be), a save won't be of any use to him. Though it's something to try to rule out corrupt profile.

One time I mixed and matched saves/profiles and was able to make the main menu not have a menu at all
