You get a squadren of B17 when the mission starts. I'm not sure of the historical accuracy of using such bombing tactic agaist naval targets (other than perhaps the fleet engagement of midway itself). I'm trying to think of how to best devide up my airplane targets. I figure since I have 2 carriers, 3 squads of fighters launch first to intercept enemy planes and while that's happening, each carrier launch 2 torpedo squadrens to go after escorts (sending my own DD's afterward) and a squadren of dive bombers to hopefully cripple one carrier to reduce enemy air cover. By that time I'd think I'd have them busy enough to risk the bombs to hit the remaining jap carrier.

Well, with 2 or 3 incomming squadrens of zero's that will no doubt be the first thing to get wasted...

no, not rearly, you send it on a flanking mission, for some reason if it is behind the IJN carrier group (not to close) it can sit there giving you good intel on the carrier group, but yes if it is found then 'im bailing out'

build all fighters, use your catilina for recon and advance with the 2 DD's and the Cleverlands awsome AA blanket taking out all the enemy planes with your fighters, et voila

any carrier can put up to 5 planes in a squadron. It is the total per carrier that is limited. If you put 5 in a squadron on a jap carrier then you are losing two planes in one of your other squadrons. The jap carriers are still limited to 9 planes total.

do you command any island forces in this one? I forget if that's this one or the midway missions, but one or the other, if the planes get too annoying I take a PT or maybe 2 (sucks that the shipyard can't lunch a few more) and circle around in their flightpath with a PT and AA the F*** outa the japs. Infact I made a successfull attack run on a carrier with escorts still active, but only 2 torps were on target, luckily however the B17 hit and it went under just before the torpedoes would have hit.
