Bug on DC Soul Reaver

Okay, i'm near the end of the silenced catherdral level, i've activated the steam updraft running through the three pipes, which is supposed to allow raziel to float up through that tube, and then fight the 3rd boss. But I can never make it into the tube! Raziel just floats up then hits a invisible ceiling and bobs up and down! Anyone experienced this, and any ideas of how to get around it?

If I remember correctly you need to activate at least two updrafts to get high enough. I can't make out if you did that from your post.
It doesn't really explain the invisible ceiling though.

The pipes are broken. You need you go back to the previous area where you were launched up unto the air, glide onto the pipes and push them back into place. You might need to also need to phase through the gate again and explore the area through there some more, cause there's broken pipes there too.
