PSM says 10th anniversary edition is a remake

Its is one thing for us to speculate about what the game is going to be, but l would expect someone who is being paid to write an article to have a bit of journalistic integrity. The opening statement of this bit of fan writting is l believe "Since Eidos announced a 10th Anniversary Edition of the first Tomb Raider weeks ago", well we all know precisely what was announced and there was no mention of the AE game being a remake in the official announcement

Best bits from both games? If that's the case it will be both games in their entirety as phenomenal as they are.

I don't know, that would seem a bit odd. Remaking the first is fine, since that's the one that started it all and is therefore THE classic game in the series. But taking clips from the first two games seems a bit random to me. I mean, why stop at TR2, then? Why not remake bits of all the sequels? Why give TR2 get special treatment and not the other sequels? Nah, I think it's more likely to be a remake of just the original.

Well, back then many did say Legend was what could be considered the true Tomb Raider 3. Unless they were refering to other game in the franchise, I think most still enjoyed TR2. I particularly did, and I disliked TR3 verily, which happens to be the favorite for quite a number of TR fans.

And I disliked TR2 verily.
That's the problem, really-- everyone's tastes differ. If they includes pieces from TR2, why not the other sequels? I felt TR2 was where the series hit rock-bottom, and then things got better afterwards. Now, I know plenty of people disagree with me, but we all have our favorites in the series, and Eidos will open a Pandora's Box if they includes bits of one sequel and not bits from other sequels. Some people loved TR3, some loved TR4, TR5, and even AOD. If they include bits of TR2, it's inevitable that fans of the other sequels will feel left out. It makes more sense to focus just on the original game. I think we can all agree that TR1 is THE classic (heck, it started the franchise), even if we don't all agree it's the best.

As for saying Legend is equivalent to TR3, I actually see it more like this:
TR
TR2
TR3: LAST REVELATION
TR4: ANGEL OF DARKNESS
TR5: Legend

To me, these are the games that really felt like full-grown sequels, rather than just expansion packs.
TR3 was an expansion pack for TR2, and Chronicles was an expansion for Legend. Neither really added anything significantly new to the series.

See what you mean. I do believe they'll only remake Tomb Raider 1 (and maybe throw in some extra levels, like Unfinished Business), but I'd be happy with whatever I got. Then again, that's just me.

What I said regarding Legend being TR3 is what was on gaming sites and related media. Now whether CrystalD will hear us, fans, or them, critics, is a story left untold...

Remake or not I still love the original game. I still get a rush everytime I blow the T-Rex away with the shot gun in the Lost Valley level. I hope wihen Eidos does release this game it will be just as good, if not better, than the original.

What if *all* of TR1 and TR2 were the best bits

I'm not sure how they'd cobble the two together and have a conceivable storyline... Or if the two would be separate, just shipped in the same packet. Just speculation. I'd love to see a remake of both. A good remake.
