Default 8-Bit Paletted Texture

I have downloaded FF7 for the PC. The problem that gets me is, in the system config. for FF7, all the things for Direct3D all pass, but when I see the last one, it says '8-Bit Paletted Texture Fail". Is there anyway to fix this problem without buying a graphics card? Im not going out of my way to buy a graphic card to play a game. I have a Dell, Windows XP, 2003 or 2004 computer if that helps at all.

If you want the play in Hardware mode... then you want the 8bit pallet to say fail. These newer drivers that occasionally say Pass, tend to be broken.

The TNTpatch is an 8bit pallet bypass patch. Can't use that patch if it said pass. Anyway... Try the Tnt patch, and you may get lucky.

Save your orginal two files somewhere.... FF7.exe and FF7config.exe are the files. After copying the files over....then you select the Nvidia option and TNT, and the Hardware mode should be available on the pulldown menu. That's basicly it.

Just note that the Odin's Cut won't look good, and the wind effect during a certain jumping puzzle won't be visible, there is no fix for the Odin Cut. But for the Wind thing...just play thru in software mode.
