All the Bells and Whistles

Hi All

I just bought Thiefeadly Shadows and before embarking on a nefarious life of crime, living by my wits and curtesy of the overipe purses waiting to be plucked in the city, I thought I'd check to make sure that I had the latest all singing all dancing version.

I peeked into alleyways cloaked in shadow and extracted information from those I found there. I hovered unseen above the shoulders of the notable and I saw their secrets while uninvited I shared their innermost thoughts.

Yet despite these endeavours I have yet to discover an update beyond V1.1

I know that this patch version was put out very soon after release to put right glaring problems at the start, but I am obviously entering into Garrets murky world a lifetime away from original release and had assumed that further improvement patches would have followed. (This being after all the way of things in the world of PC Gaming.)

So before I settle for 1.1 and begin a hopefully prosperous career relieving the fat cats of their loot and redirecting it to someone more deserving, (Me) I thought I'd check in with "them as know" (You) to make sure that I'm not failing in the games very first challenge...... Getting it up to date.

Version 1.1 is the only official update, though of course there is the Minimalist Project and John P's texture pack.

LOL! I played the first two games and I got so fed up with being called "Taffer" that I took to killing guards who dared to utter it! You should probably bear this in mind Wolf in case we meet in a dark alley. Of course such murderous activities did mean I failed more often than not and had to restart.... so perhaps I'd better adopt a strict "Sticks & Stones" policy before I attempt number three.

Ok then, 1.1 and I'm hot to trot officially. But what about these two unnoficial packs you mention? Are they gameplay enhancing or are they total rewrites? I obviously want to play the game proper before I start messing about with mods. What do they do sir?

Minimalist primarily changes the user interface to be more like T1/T2, best idea is to have a look on the homepage and see for yourself. John P's texture pack is just that, a set of high definition textures for characters and scenery. That does result in a performance hit, so bear that in mind if your system specs are already borderline.

And remember, you're a thief not a murderer...

Your guess about my system specs is about right, I don't know how close to the knuckle I am but it can't be far. I'll leave the add on packs until I've played the gane through once as plain old 1.1

Ahhhh it was true once, but no more. Now my heart is heavy with the chains of sin, for I have indeed embraced the dark side.
