This isn't an attempt to steal HB's glory on the movie review thing she's got going, I just figured I'd discuss something.

On that note, I was curious as to if any of you have seen this yet?

I saw it over the week and I wasn't too overly impressed with it. I figured it would be a rip off of Dee Snyder's Strangeland which to a point it was (with the internet leading to bad things happening type aspect) but I must admit that frankly, this movie wasn't too great.

The visual aspects were decent...kind of reminded me of a TOOL or a NIN video in parts. The website used in the movie was cool (I'd love to get a browser like that) But the actual movie site is lame.

The acting wasn't anything to drool over either and the worst part was, that it lacked most of the plotline. I understood what was happening in the movie, I understood the basis for our good friend "The Doctor"

but I didn't see how he lost control of his website idea to a ghost.

Bottom Line: It looked good. It wasn't good. But hey, there's always The Ring right? (Which I can't wait to see)


Oh, and Stephen Dorf has really come a long way since the days of Blade

Isn't 'The Ring' another Hollywood remake?

With endings explained for the audience, and all that exposition stuff that the original cleverly avoided?

oooooooo is The Ring - based on the videogame Terror's Realm The Ring - I hope so - because I loved that game and hardly anyone I have talked to knows about it??????

No, its based on the 1998 Japanese film "Ringu".

My boyfriend tells me that The Ring is based on 3 Japanese books and they've already made movies of all 3 in Japan.

If this one is successful, they will probably make all 3 into American flicks.

Which is based on a novel by Koji Suzuki

(by the way...... if "The Ring" is anything at all like Ringu... it'll be excellent)

Oh and I didn't need to actually see Fear dot com to know it was a horrible film... I mean... just look at it... it's hideous...

Oh I dunno....this website has ensared many an innocent passer by and devoured their lives whole....


I'm looking forward to 'The Ring', though...the trailer is one of the best I've seen in recent years (one of those pieces of work I wish I'd done!)... and Naomi Watts (Mulholland Drive) is a good draw.

I'm just worried about rumours of it being dumbed down by Hollywood.
