Default Problems with FX 6800GT and Thief 1 and 2

I posted this in a previus thread, but I felt (and others) it needed it's own thread.

Hey all,
Just a bit of a problem with Thief 1 and 2. I can't get the cut sceens to work at all. I tried all of the fixxes in the TTLG, but nothing has worked. My video card could be the problem however. I am running an Nvidia GeForce FX 6800GT. It rocks with Thief TDS, but I think the drivers have issues with Thief 1 and 2. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 6800 GT, and it works well when the TTLG fixes are applied, apart from the fact that T2 must be played with safe_texture_manager enabled (edit user.cfg and remove the semicolon comment flag). That messes up dark textures, I think. They are ugly, but it works. I am using driver version 66.93. I think also I had to download a special patched executable to play T1 (Thief Gold). I got all that information at TTLG.

If the only problem is the cut scenes, then I think the most likely thing is to reinstall the Indeo Codec. You can find that with a Google search. I think a fairly recent version is also on the Thief 2 CD.

Someone reported that with XP they had to reinstall the Indeo Codec every time before playing. I think that a fix to that problem is mentioned on the TTLG FAQ. If not, then do a search here for indeo codec. The search button is on the upper right corner.

Let us know if you solve the problem or not. If not, it may help to post details of your system specs including audio and video cards.

Somebody at TTLG posted a link to these free codecs . Try downloading and installing them and it might fix your problem.

Default Working, sort of

Hey everyone,
Thanks for you inputs, and I have got the cut scenes to work, however, the videos are a bit choppy. Any suggestions on settings to get the vid to run smoothly?
