Default Horrible Movement Issues

Specs

Amd 2400+
1gig 3200 Crucial
Win xp SP2
geforce 4 4200 (66.93 drivers)
wd 100 gig HD

MOUSE - Logitech MX700

I have had nothing but problems playing this game. Hours of talking to reps on eidos have resolved nothing. Reinstalls and reformats have resolved nothing. This game runs like absolute garbage. I play with mouse look on, whenever I move the character with my mouse Garrets speed drops by about 50%. Other than my Mouse, I do not have any other USB devices plugged in OR installed. NO gamecontrollers. Everything else slows down to the speed of a turtle whenever the mouse is moved. its not choppy but extremelly SLOW. Irregular Run/Walk Speeds.

With those machine specs i can run eq2, doom3, HL2, WoW all flawlessly. I try and run this game with EVERY setting on low and its basically unplayable. Please excuse my frustration but I have spent hours trying to get this game to run properly.

any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't have a clue, really, but the first thing I would do is to install the Logitec mouseware drivers if you have not already done so. Sometimes the generic Windows drivers have problems. Then, if that does not work, I would try another mouse, a simple generic one.

Another place to look is video drivers. The 4200 is marginal for TDS, which is a very demanding game. Whenever you move the mouse, the point of view changes and the video card has to redraw the scene, so that could be slowing it down. I had a 4200 until recently, and I had good success with an older version of the omega drivers, nvidia_wxp_omega_14523a.exe, which was reputed to be the fastest.
