"Reise, Reise" - Rammstein: a CD review

I bought this album yesterday and I feel that it was not worth the money. They seem to have lost their unique style; you know, the repetative pounding guitar rifs that are so different from those of most other bands. In this new album the music is pretty generic for the most part. The novelty of listening to music in a foreign language (for me anyway) does not save this album from my negative crticism. Oh, I still enjoyed a few of the songs. "Amerika" I thought was funny, and "Mein Teil" had a sort of spooky sound to it. "Reise, Reise" was apealing to the ear for some reason, probably because it had a more pounding rhythm than all the others. But those aside, the album was not worth the money and the car ride to get it.

I'll have to go back to good old "Sehnsucht" for the authentic Rammstein style.

I havent heard it yet, hopefully I can get a copy this weekend.
I first heard of Rammstien in late 98, I've always enjoyed their unique music.

I'm not a Rammstein's fan (rather listen to Kraftwerk ) but I watched Amerika in some video channel (was it MTV?) and I found it cool.

I've heard repetitive pounding guitar riffs done by lots of bands over the last 30-40 years.

I'm glad to hear they are finally discovering something new.


On a similar footing, U2's new album is simply incredible.

I was actually impressed with the latest Rammstein release. I'm going to go out on a limb to suggest you didn't care for Mutter either, eh Gandalf?

Mutter signaled the musical evolution of this band, IMO as its' sound was very different than Herzeleid and Sehnsucht. (More melodic, IMO). I find that Reise, Reise is a good combination of the old and newer style.

• Mein Teil (which I've liked ever hearing it on the REA soundtrack)
• Los (very cool Blues influence here)
• Amerika
• Moskau (very cool combination of Russian and German)
• Ohne Dich

Well, people shouldn't take heed of my opinions. I haven't listened to Mutter yet. I'm really only basing what I say off of Sehnsucht and Reise Reise. I just like the Sehnsucht style more, and I just was not expecting the change in style with this new album.

Ok, I got the CD. I was worried because the music place had dropped the price from $19 U.S. to $13 rather quickly. I've listened to the album three times already and I'm going on my fourth! IT'S AWESOME!
Die Sonne is still my favorite song, but this album as a whole still rocks!
