Default Gar. Thief2 + XP + Radeon

Not working.

I *know* i have come across this problem before, but darned if I know how to fix it. Seems like it was something to do with disabling EAX or something, but I can't even get to the opening menus. I start the game, it shows the splash screen, and that's it.

I have tried:

Uninstalling-reinstalling
Making sure iI have latest video and sound drivers
reinstalling indeo codecs
the nvidia texture fix in user.cfg
striking my pc case with a large blunt object.

I never got aroudn to finishing T2, and would like to wrap it up prior to picking up the new game.

Running:
WinXP Pro
Athlon 2200+ no overclock
Radeon 9800 AIWPro 128
Crystal Sound onboard soundcard

I've tried all of the fixes that I can find on the 'net, and end up with the same thing every time - spash screen, and screeching halt. The system doesn't crash, I get no error message...it just doesn't run.

The AVI movies *do* run in Winamp, and I re-installed the Indeo codecs just to be on the safe side.

I *know* I've found a workaround for this in the past, but I'm darned if I can remember it. Anyone?

No problem. I like to emphasis the KEYWORDS. Italics and BOLD don't seem to register some times. Overkill, perhaps, but at least it can't be said that "I did not see that."
