Hi there.
Thanks for the reply. ![]() I managed to get this sorted, after all that. I was on the Gamall's Lair/House/Mansion mission, and I went to have a look at that secret museum tunnel before that, wondering why I still could not get in. I have finally obtained the objcetive to get into the museum, Thanks a lot for the help! I hope I didn't waste too much of your time. My regards.....

This is one instance in which I think the game could have been better written - there's no indication anywhere that this is not the glitch it looks like. How hard would it have been to add a grating across the tunnel and a note that it's not time yet? Instead, thief players, accustomed to being able to range freely, get incredibly frustrated at this 'bug' that's stopping them from robbing the museum blind!

It's not a big deal, and is easily explained. People who get stuck will check their objectives. It's not such a big deal because no one gets permanently stuck, and going into the tunnel doesn't break anything. Just my opinion on the matter.

If a player "Finds" a passage or other, such as this tunnel, by being explorative, or brave, then there should be an indicator that tells them that it is NOT TIME, or that they need to do something else first.
I spent 30 minutes trying to pass the area. I REINSTALLED THE GAME thinking it was broken. Traps like this are very poor design, unfair to the player, and show a lack of consideration for the player and give the impression that it is a major bug, or that the game did not install properly. Bad scene all around. And this is not the only major fault in the game. Checking your objectives tells you nothing. It tells you what you MUST DO, but does not say "You cannot go into XXX at this time, come back after you XYZ." A player, unlike the man who made the game, does not know that certain events must be sequenced to function. As I said, bad thinking and design. Last edited by theBlackman; 09-15-2004 at 07:03 PM. |

I also found the tunnel before it had the glyph.
It seemed strange that the note and supplies were down there and an invisible wall was blocking me. I didn't go to the extreme of re-installing though. Just went and looked around the city for something else to do. The one or two doors in the game that would shake but not open confused me also. I kept trying to pull out my sword and smash them down... |

Yeah, I think they needed some Garret voice acting in these situations like at the

One of the things which REALLY confused me about that passageway, (before you were allowed to enter it by way of the glyph symbol, which I later found out) is that when you looked in the chest close by, there were a couple of Explosive Mines in there, so I instantly thought RIGHT.......
well how else is one to enter such a small tunnel, (giving the appearence of a mine entryway, but smaller) apart from to blow it up? So thinking the Explosive Mines in the chest were a clue, I started placing mines down, (right near, and just under the front of the passageway) and shooting them with my arrows to set them off. But of course...... nothing happened...... did it??

At least give some kind of a clue beforehand, instead of letting us players keep pulling, and bashing away at the door, wondering why it won't open at this stage. Ahh well.... I don't really have any bad opinions about the game, apart from the fact that it's very entertaining, very good story/plotlines e.t.c and certainly, very enjoyable!

I ran into this same issue, and I agree, I should not have been allowed to this spot at all. Furthermore, the civilians holding their conversation about the "secret museum entrance" should not have gone through their speech in front of me either at this point during my first slink through Aud.
The best way of handling this is probably the same thing as when you try to leave a mission before completing all objectives, with a voice line from Garrett saying he's got more important things to do or something like that. |
