Default Hi. New User Here. :-)

Hi.

Completely new user use here.

Just wondering if these forums are still active at all, and if so....
then it would be nice if I could get some help with my game.
(which of course is Thief 3. Deadly shadows)

I'm in Stone market Proper, and I need to get into St. Edgars Church, but I don't have a clue how to.
I read in an FAQ Guide somewhere, that you have to climb a pipe or some such, but since I don't have any climbing gloves for that yet, I'm completely at a loss for what to do.

Can anybody help me out please?
I would really appreciate this!

Thanks!

if so and ur in stone market proper, at the entrance of the church there should be a glyph (glowing symbol thing) just face it and use it and u'll get into the church

if it's not in ur objectives, u need to do whatevers in it first

First check your objectives, second have you met with the other keeper yet and gone to the keeper library and last of all you don't need climbing gloves for this mission even if you could get them this early in the game which you can't,you won't be able to buy them until later in the game when you can get to the Docks and they will cost you $2,000.00.

You need to go to the Keeper Library after meeting with the other keeper in Stonemarket Plaza. All you need do is follow him and he will take you to the library, after that read your objectives and they will tell you what to do from that point.

Hi there.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, it does. One of my Objectives (which I was told from The Keeper, after the cut-scene in meeting him for the first time) says I have to go into St. Edgars Church, and retrieve some kind of diamond, or whatever it was. (sorry, I can't remember exactly what it was here, without the game in front of me)

I also noticed very clearly, the funny symbol on the front of the big door there, (I didn't know it was a Glyph) but when I click on it, Garrett just reads a description from it, saying that it's St. Edgars Church e.t.c e.t.c (hence, a dark screen opens up with the info regarding the church, with Garrett reading it out loud)

Nothing else seems to happen after that, (apart from going back into the game again, of course) so I don't know what to do really.

I hope to find some way round it though.

Hi there.

Again, thanks for your reply.

Ahh! From your description, it sounds as though I have missed something out then. I have not yet been to the Keeper Library. How many keepers are there though? It sounds like I have missed a couple out here, and the one in Stone Market Proper was the very first one I met. (hence the cut-scene)

Maybe I should go back from here (Stone Market Proper) then, and go back to the Plaza, and find that other keeper.

Thanks.

you pressed the "Start" button on the lower right under all the other buttons rite? It 'should' show a cutscene and proceed to load the level itself. If it doesn't do any of that, try re-installing?

Well yes, but isn't all this at the start of the game, (the very begining) or each time I load a saved game? I don't quite think that's the problem here.
Sorry.

Thanks though.

Each time you start a mission. AFAIK, saved games you just load. I wouldn't really know, I use the quicksave/quickload method (F10/F12).

You have to start each mission by clicking on the start button and not just at the start of the game or when loading a saved game.

The only keeper you meet with is in Stonemarket Plaza in Terces courtyard{look at your map for the location}.He will then lead you to the Keeper Library where you will meet and talk with a few other Keepers and do some reading.

I don't know who you met in Stonemarket proper but it was no keeper.

theres 2 meetings of the keepers

the first one is when u are told to get the two relics from the pagans/hammers and after you get them, you meet him back at the same place. Only after then does he let you go into the library

Hey Nikeon. These guys are misleading you. You don't visit the Keeper Library until after you get the Chalice (not a diamond) from St. Edgar's Church and the Jacknall's Paw from the Pagans. If you see the glyph on the doors to St. Edgar's, then you have the objective and all information you need. When you "use" the glyph/doors it goes to the briefing screen where Garrett is talking. HERE IS YOUR PROBLEM: You keep selecting "Abort Mission" instead of "Start Misson." You need to actually start the mission.

Wrong he has to meet with the keeper in Terces Courtyard first to get the objective to go to ST.Edgars first before he can enter ST.Edgars, after that mission he will meet with the keeper again and will then follow him to the keeper library where he will be given the ability to see the keepers hidden doors that have the blue glyph so he can use them to enter areas that are closed off and by the way he gets the Chalice from ST.Edgars in the factory part of it.

I did the same thing....clicked on the glyph, watched the cutscene, read the objectives, saw 'start' button and sounding like Benny thought 'huh?' then pressed the 'left' arrow and was facing the glyph again....and a few alerted guards. Hmmmmm. Did a search then I finally figured out that I was to click on the 'start' and magically ended up in St. Edgar's.

Hi again.

I think my last post was probably a bit confusing. (as I probably got a bit mixed up with how I presented it) You're right. The Keeper I said I met with for the first time, was NOT in Stone Market Proper, and he WAS in Terces Courtyard, at The Plaza. Sorry about that. I think I just got a bit mixed up there.

Hmm..... well since I've already met with The Keeper, to get the objective on my list, it seems I have to go and search for the Library.

After the cut-scene with The Keeper, are you supposed to follow him to the Library, as I did NOT do that. If that's what I should have done, then like I said, maybe I should find my way back to the Library.
Gosh! I didn't even spot it on my travels.

Oh, just one thing. (and this is for everyone who reads my post really)

I know that my Username doesn't really state it at all clearly, but just for all of you......

I am a FEMALE.

I just felt the need to get that off my chest.

A couple of you referred to left arrows. which ones do you mean?
Do you mean the ones on (and also underneath, when you go to a different part of the map) the map you look at, (left and right arrows) or some place else?

Thanks.

I just finished the game for the third time and I'm not entirely positive about this but, IIRC, you'll go there after you get the Jacknall's Paw (from the Pagans).

Once you get the objective from the first keeper you met in the courtyard go back to ST.Egars in Stonemarket Proper and using your mouse right click on the blue glyph that is at the front gate and you will have a short movie and he will do some talking then the screen will come up with all the choices on how you want to play the mission. When you have made your choice hit the start button at the bottom and the mission will start.

Hi again.

HEY..... GUESS WHAT????

I've DONE it!! HOORRRAAAAYYY!!

My answer was the -START BUTTON- at the right hand side, at the very bottom, under all the other ones. (then I saw the cut-scene/short movie for the next mission)

I've just realised, the thing I kept doing wrong, was clicking the -BACK BUTTON- in the bottom left hand corner of the game screen, and that's why I couldn't get into the Church.

PHEEWWW!! I'm really glad I got some help here, at these message boards!
Thanks a lot for all the help guys!

Actually, my problem sounds quite similar to how ~TiffTaffinTaffer~
described it, (btw - I love your Username. I had a giggle out of it )
but I'm sure I got all other really helpful replies too, from all you other guys.

Thanks a lot!

I told you in my first reply as did Milky that you needed to hit the start button to begain the mission and not just hit the start button when you start the game or when loading a saved game.

Hi again.

I've just been reading back through the posts again.
Yes, you're right. I didn't realise it at first, but from your first post, where you mentioned the -START BUTTON- I think I got quite confused, and I thought you meant the one at the very start, when you first load up the game. (well actually, that one just said 'Play Game.' No wonder I got confused)

I didn't know what you meant at first.
Silly me hey? Heh heh.

Thanks.

HEY, FOR THE RECORD, I WAS RIGHT. YOU DON'T FOLLOW ANY KEEPERS UNTIL AFTER THE CHALICE AND JACKNALL'S PAW MISSIONS. I KNEW THAT ALL SHE WAS DOING WAS CLICKING "ABORT" INSTEAD OF "START." THIS THREAD JUST KEPT GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES AND NO ONE SAW IT BUT ME.

Now that you know to hit the start button for each mission all you need to do now is follow what your objectives tell you to do and you should be ok,but if you do have a problem just check back with us and will get it sorted out one way or another.
