You're not the only one, I thought it was a boy too.

T4, how about this: 1st half of the game, you're still playing Garrett, in between missions, cutscenes will show Garrett training
Subsequent cutscenes shows
older than previous cutscenes, until you get to
. Then the 2nd half kicks in, something happens to Garrett and you end up playing
. It could be that Garrett gets too involved with a mission and he give you
a mission, one related to his. Or, it could be that Garrett goes missing while on a mission and
you try to find him by seeking out what his mission was, what happened, where he is.

If a fourth game is released, I think it should be a prequel to when Garrett first joined the keepers. They could set a story line that evolves into the Thief 1+2 storylines. Plus Garrett would be a bit more agile since he's younger.

I think it will be the girl, especially as the line Garret utters to her is an exact parallel of what the keeper says to him when offering him a position in the keeper ranks.

I didn't vote, cause I'd have to add another option. I think there will be another Thief game, but I don't think it will have anything to do with the previous three. No keepers, Hammerites, Pagans, Garret, etc. I think the Thief world is complete and has been brought to an end. I think there will be tons of new missions for Thief3, perhaps even an official mission pack as well as all the fan missions that will be created. But, I think a new Thief game would be well designed to create a new world with new factions, and new characters. Don't get me wrong though...I like the existing factions, and Garret, et. la., but I'm thinking a change is in order. Heck, it could be the same world, but perhaps where the Hammerites and Pagans have faded away and the Keepers, well don't exist anymore. Perhaps it should be a whole new story, like someone who was already wealthy and just liked sneaking into peoples homes to make sure that those other people never have a chance to have any real wealth...you know...more like the real world. <grin>

Well if there is a 4th game I want it to have everything Hammers, Pagans, Burricks, undead of all descriptions, mechanists, rope arrows, swimmable water and as possible villans one of the nobles or something precursor.

If anyone remembers in the Museum mission,

Did anyone else notice that? That could be the topic of a future game.

In a way I'm hoping there is not another one, mostly because this installment has utterly broken my faith in the franchise. It is bad when fan mods of the original games are better than the newest official installment.

Then again, it might be nice for them to try and redeem themselves after this abortive bastard child.

Of course, what did I expect with a simultaneous release for a console... OF COURSE it's going to suck.

Yeah, so at first I wasn't really sure wheter or not

But crc294 also noticed, as did I, the part where the eye threatens to take your other eye from you. Next game maybe it'll happen.

But the best idea i've heard yet is just a series of random levels (A ton of levels, I thought thief 3 was kind of short... it only seems long because half the time you are loading inbetween areas) where you have to meet the requirements like ##% of the loot, difficulty, ext. The missions don't have to have an ongoing story to them, who cares about the keepers or the hag anyway?

I thought this game tried to give you an openness of freedom, and it really sucked, mostly because of the deus ex 2 engine botching the gameplay into bits and pieces with the long load times, small maps, the annoying as hell in both D E 2 and T3 infamous "Are you sure you want to travel to this area?". The missions were fun, but the city streets were tedious and annoying. So, that is why in thief 4 you should just have a bunch of missions, no interluding stuff.

I agree, the city thing could use some work. But I thought the story / plot to this game was sweet ... its what made me finish out the game. Perhaps Thief 4 can have a singleplayer storyline like always, but once you beat it, it opens up an option for "Random Mission." lots of games have something like that, or an equivalent, like Battlefield 1942's "Instant Battle." You could set a difficulty level and just do missions, some that were in the storyline and many many others that aren't and are made just for the purpose of the quick mission. That would be fun

As Eidos has just got hold of the Thief series, I doubt that they are going to losen there death grip on a potentialy profitable franchies, so the 'open' ending for T 3 leaves the perfect oppertunity for a new trilogy. because who dosen't like a good triolgy! but as was said above Its doubtfull that they will shove Garet into the background in favor of the

Because if they create yet another tomb raider out of this epic series then all the die-hard thief fans will be throwing bricks through windows est. (lol)

Anyways although many would prefer another all garet game it looks like the final scene has definitly hinted at new blood. A good sequel would include both the

and her mentor garet, which might be what eidos and ion storm are angling for to keep the raving garet fans (who isen't! ) and breath new life into the series.

I've just had a brainwave!

If they're gonna insist on dumb titles howabout...

Thief 4 : Tears of Blood

With the strapline "It takes a thief, to catch a thief"

Then the pair of them are involved.

I like the idea of the little girl being the lead character of the next game. Anyone remember a game called Alice?

The next game should be about Garrett when his thieving days are coming to an end and his mother turns up to tell him to return all the loot he nabbed and apologize to everyone personally. That could total days of gameplay!

Or play as a fence, where you stand behind your table all day and say random things to every thief who comes in. At the end of the day you take all the stuff you bought and throw it at some old lady or something.

There's a lot of questions that must be answered in Thief 4. Much that have happend.

Keepers must remain, wether they will be known to the public or remain hidden I don't know.

Garret never officially liked the Keepers, but he understod they kept the Balance and were needed, even tough he didn't approve their methods all the time

I think he will play an leading role there, watch over the keepers but have no intrest to keep balance in the City. That's still the keepers job. He just make sure they don't loose balance amongst themself

We overheard an Pagan conversation in Thief 3, that they were preparing for an War against the Hammerites. Surely, that should play a role in the new game. Before, thoose two factions been about equally strong. No side much stronger than the other. Instead of save the world as Garret usually do, he might be more involved in their buisness to make sure the balance will remain.

What happens if Pagans take full controll or vice versa, what if hammers do it? That stuff needs to be controlled, balanced. I can imagine a couple missions that includes finding out their plans. One faction might have an disgusting evil weapon up their Sleeve and Garret needs to find out what it is. Much like Mechanists secret plans in Thief2.

Then the usual stealing from some rich nobelman to make a living and pay his rent. Break into Mansions, have a bit of payback on people and the usual Garret style. (I am sure Eidos/Ion storm will make an good story. Even better than the last, since they now got a bit more experience in Thief and feel more secure)

About the girl, I don't think she will take over Garrets role. She will most likely be like Garret when he was young, the keepers will protest against her and question her actions but Garret keeps here there and teaches her. (Some possibly dispute about Keepers and Garret about the girl aswell that escalates into something?)

Would be cool to play some easy missions with the girl. Imagine playing with a person that's not tall at all. That stummbles a bit here and there and is a bit clumbsy. Anyho, much good things they can take with in Thief 4. Opens up a lot of possibilitys.

All I ask for is Stephen Russel stays as voice of Garret, he still have an leading role and that keepers wont vanish (I love thoose cloaked fellas) and I think it should be a bit more dark, a bit more depressed. More feelings in it. It's afterall not a very glamorous city they live in

Also

I loved the Cradle part in Thief3. That had FEELING.

What I want in Thief 4 is something similiar. Some old Hammerite Prison up in the mountain that got closed down long ago for reasons unknown and reasons the hammers don't gladly talk about

(Something like that and have an important part to the story)
