Thumbs up Who here played GTA3?

The game is freaking AMAZING. Probably the best game I've ever played. Certainly the most durable; you can play it for a day w/o even completing a single mission. Highly recommended (for mature audience only !!!!! ).

Still trying to finish it before Vice City comes out in a few months. That game is like crack.

I just bought a PS2 and GTA3 to go along with it!

That game is one of the best games I have played! It is so much fun. It's fun to just drive around, hit people and such...without doing any of the missions. Lol. Great game and I can't wait for Vice City. When is that one due out, anyone know?

So much fun..hehe, yes, it is like crack. Haha...very addictive!

I actually didn't like it nearly as much as I thought I would.
For pure city driving games, I like Driver or the Midtown Madness series better. And the on-foot handling was dodgy at best.

But the atmosphere and ambiance of the plot and the city itself DO tend to make up for those shortcomings a bit. It was great fun to just drive around, looking at things, and causing havoc. But even that gets old after the 10th time or so.

Needed more missions, too.

More missions???!? Yes, more missions is always better but (I don't recall the exact numbers) but the game has like 70+ missions where like 50 are SP story missions and the rest are optional.

This game is like multiple games in one:
(to name a few)
- Carmageddon
- Driver 1,2
- Midtown Madness
- Crazy taxi (crazy fireman, crazy policeman: games yet to be released )
- Flight Simulator (tho a primitive one)
- Boat racer
- 3rd person shooter game

and you think Driver ( ) is better???

Well, Driver 2. I enjoyed Driver 2 immensely, and not just because it was set in Chicago

70 missions?! You must surely be counting those side-quests, surely. The main plotline had about 5 missions per Capo, so like 25-30 total. The side missions I couldn't STAND. They were either remarkably hard or way too tedious. I'm talking here of all the phone-booth missions for different gangs. Really didn't care for them. Of course, as always, I love to be proved wrong when I'm down on something. Maybe I'll try them again and Cheat through the missions I don't care for. Which are usually the first or second phone-booth mission. Maybe they get better toward the end.

70+ missions in total, including side quests, yes.
47-48 plotline missions (just counted them).

I own PC version.....so,

A) you can play your own music there (MP3 as radiostations).
B) you can model your own cars with this 3rd party tool (okay, not the same thing but it opens possibilities for creative minds).

I have 78%.

It's 30 % or something but I only have to complete the final mission

didn't use cheats, but I don't know why that percentage is so low, didn't finish the extra missions it's probably that.

Maybe so but frankly, I don't understand where you are going with this. Are you saying that because Driver has 70s feel and has older cars and music, it's a better game? C'mon, that's rediculous.

None. Just say you don't like the game because you ..hm..don't like the game. I can understand that. We all have different tastes.

On the other hand, you also have the right to remain silent.

I think GTA 3 is great.

I actually like it a lot better then GTA2 and probably a bit better then GTA1.

I don't really know what it is, it is maybe just that type of layout I prefer but I really enjoy it.

I loved the freedom the game provided and realy felt like part of the city. But after leaving Portland the game went straight down the hill and into the toilet. In Staunton it just felt so empty, and I haven't played since.

Now is that a little joke I see here in the thread.

I really liked the freedom it gave as well.

You were not completly restricted to go here then there, but if you wanted to unlock all the areas then you would have to carry on going through the missions.

Default It didn't get console game of the year for nothing...

Ah jeez I got it when it first came out... lets put it this way... I've logged around 38 hours on the game.... I'm only like 47% done (I have a penchant for just blowing stuff up).... I'll be playing this game until the end of time.... well... I need to finish it before the expansion comes out... then I'll play that until the end of time...

It's a great game. My bro borrowed it from a co-worker. I didn't even bother with most of the missions. I had fun just shooting people and stealing their vehicles. The tour busses are the best

I have only done a few missions....I'm stuck on one where I gotta kill some mafia guys...oh wait, that's the whole game. I actually forget what gang it is, but it's a mean one...

I'm in the begining of the game, still in Portland. Haven't seen any tour busses, yet. When do those arrive? Hehe, just wonderin'.
