Default Crash! Crash! Crash!

Hi,

first it took about 3 minutes for the game to crash

now after I've installed the patch, I crash in the menu.

It's definitly a problem with the soundcard, after the game crashes the sound is repeated over en over again.

(I played other Hitman series without any problems)

does anyone else have this...
how do you solve it...or do I have to wait for patch 2.

Try changing 'UseEAX 1' to 'UseEAX 0' in the Hitman config file. But id you didn't experience any problems with other Hitman games, this probably wont fix it - but it's worth a shot!

Try it out - just remember to backup the file, then there shouldn't be anything stopping you from experimenting.

It doesn't appear that anything will fix this defective game. I have tried everything I can possibly think of, and nothing works.

Wait for the next patch. There is no way to fix this by ourselves, lets hope EIDOS will be good enough to create a NO CRASHING game!!!

Do you know for sure if there is going to be a next patch? I really do hope so. Because Contracts desperately needs it. More so than any other game I can think of.

NO I don't, but let's hope that they wont leave this game bugged like it is (for some of us) right now...

Yeah, right - like they're gonna release a second patch!!! We've already paid for the game so why should they care. Actually I'm quite impressed with IOI. When Codename 47 was released the eyes of the whole gaming world were on IOI, so they produced a good game, and took the time to help "troubled" customers. Now after Hitman 2 and 3 we can all see, that it was a media stunt to make more money - at any cost. I must say, they fooled me - I actually thought they cared, about their customers that is.

However, my cousin's wife is a good lawyer, perhaps I'll drop her a line soon!

Seriously though, I can't understand why IOI and now Eidos doesn't mind having this kind of reputation.

And IOI and Eidos - if you're out there - if you were flattered by this post I'm very sorry, and must say that it was clumsy of me, it was not intended in that way!!!!

If you actually get through to them, will you please let us know. I wrote them a week ago but they would only reply with some "don't play while running an anti-virus program"-mombo-djombo! So I wrote them again and tried to spell it out for them, that I am not a newbie and yet again told them what was wrong. Since then (five days ago) they've ignored me!

Sure will.

I'm a member on another Hitman message forum in which, Jason Walker who works for Eidos is a new regular member on there. I'm going to send him a private message asking him if there is going to be a second patch.

Then I will post his response on here.

Very good. I'm currently writing IOI to see if they'll help. In the meantime what's the web-adress for the other board?

So far Jason Walker hasn't responded. In fact, I'm still waiting for him to show up. Last I heard from him, he had mentioned that he is busy working on, Thief 3.

Yeah, I don't go on that one to much. Because the majority of members on there are extremely cruel. And will flame you and treat you like total garbage constantly for no reason. And the moderators don't do jack about it.

I don't post on it or any other Hitman board, as there are already loads complaining (with every right) about all the crashing. Personally I can't load a savegame as it'll cause a crash to the desktop, and I'm not the only one - but I can't do nothing about it, cause no one wants to help. I do wish that the one(s) responsible will loose all his teeth except one, and in that he should have a toothache!!!

Jason Walker from Eidos responded to my message that I sent him. Asking him if IOI has any plans to release a second patch. Here is his response:

"the guys are currently having a bit of a break at the mo, and e3 is on us etc..

will have more news after this week has passed".

Aagaard, dont get me wrong, you're right to be disgruntled, but look at it this way...

I have the game... It doesn't crash on my system...
It doesn't crash on my friends system...
It doesn't crash for more than half the people who post on these forums...

maybe you should get off your high horse, stop making threats and consider that its possibly your computer that is having issues...

What in the world are you talking about?

What threats?

I haven't seen any threats made by, Aagaard. He's not on any "high horse".

But it sure sounds like you are.

So Contracts works for you and your friends.

Well good for you.

But Contracts crashes on my computer as well as Aagaard. And not to mention a TON of other people on OTHER Hitman message forums.

Now I can't speak for anybody else, but I know for a damn fact that it is NOT under any circumstances my computer that is causing the problems. Because I have a whole bunch of other games that run perfectly fine. And NEVER crash on me at all.

Contracts is the ONLY game that crashes on me.

So Contracts works perfectly for you and your friends.

So what in the bloody hell are you doing in this thread then?

To cause trouble?

Yeah, obviously so.

So if Contracts works for you and your friends, why don't you just leave this thread and take your business elsewhere. And STOP harassing people like, Aagaard who along with myself are having technical problems with this sodding game.

You said right there: It doesn't crash for more than half the people who post on these forums... Well ain't that nice. Of course it only takes more than half of the buyers to be succesful. What about the other half. Quite a lot with Radeon cards are having problems. Prior to the release of the game there was no information about problems with Radeon or ATI products, if there had been I wouldn't have bought the game. But I feel a bit put upon by Eidos and IOI. I paid for this game damn it, so how does it help me or even justify that my game doesn't work, that more than half of the people on these forums don't experience any crashings!!!

right, a little bit of information...

I have a Radeon 9600XT... I have the latest Catalyst drivers (4.5)...
and I am having NO problems...

maybe its not the video card... Even you mentioned it could be audio related...

Unhappy

I m also hving extreme frequent carshes (aobut every 5 mins), below is my PC's configuration. Just want to if any Hardware Expert could c if it's the cause of the crashes.

Intel Celeron 2.2 GHz
Samsung 512mb (PC3200) x 4 = 2Gb ram
Gigabyte board with SiS 655 chip set
HIS Radeon 9500 pro (latest driver installed from ATI)
WD 80Gb, 8mb buffer Harddisk( I doubt if it will cause crashes)
