Yeah... Looks like Master and Commander. the kid has his arm missing, and is taking notes on animals. If only I had gotten there first... I still wouldn't have any pics to post.

OK, here are some hints.

This is an important scene from a well-known movie by a famous director. At least three of the actors are also very well-known, especially the guy in the screen shot, who is one of the top actors of the last 20-30 years. Give yourself a good kick if you don't recognize him!!

I chose this particular shot because I thought there were enough clues in the picture that you might be able to figure out which film it was even if you had never actually seen it!!

ummm. I'm sorry, that hint doesn't do it for me. No facts to bite into... just opinions.

sorry. didn't mean to throw snot all over the place.
How about a date, or name, or genre... or a tissue.

The Graduate is wrong--but you're on the right track, Gummie.

Here are some more hints:
1) It's from the 1970's which, to me, was one of the golden eras of filmmaking.
2) In common with the film I had previously posted, "Island of Lost Souls", this movie was quite controversial & was banned in various places when it was released. Unlike "Island", which is now generally regarded as a classic, this film remains controversial to this day--apparently it was only recently aired on British TV for the first time since its release.
3) The actor in the photo is not holding a golf club.
4) The director was once the subject of a spoof on Monty Python.

Still no guesses all day? I'm sorry to have picked another obscure movie--I thought people would recognize it pretty easily. If I get to do this again, I promise to limit myself to films that have won an Oscar for Best Picture, Best Director, or Best Actor/Actress.

Here's another hint:
In addition to the actor in the photo, the film also featured Susan George & David Warner (although the latter had an important role, he wasn't listed in the credits).
Also, I watched the episode of Monty Python I mentioned in my last post. Eric Idle actually mentions this film during the show!

If nobody gets it by the time I go to bed tonight, I'll declare Gumdrop the winner because he had the closest near miss!

Well, at least I don't have to be embarrassed that I didn't recognize this one; I've never even heard of that movie (but then, maybe I have... if I did see that Monty Python episode you mentioned ).

It was the episode with the skit where John Cleese goes into the cheese shop & tries to buy some cheese. The skit turns out to have been a movie ("Rogue Cheddar") directed by Sam Peckinpah. They then show a scene from his latest film, "Salad Days".

OK, this one should be pretty easy - but I hope not a one-guess like my last efforts!

Hmmm.. that looks like Sam Rockwell, and the only movie I can think of at the moment that fits that scene is Charlie's Angels (?).

*\o/*

The last movie pic I posted was much easier to guess than I expected, so hopefully this one will be a little tougher.

This movie was filmed in the '80's:
