[EDIT: THIS WAS ORIGINALY ON THE LOK MOVIE TOPIC, BUT WAS MOVED BECAUSE I GOT A LITTLE TOO OFF TOPIC...]

this thread has been around for along time and ive just realized i never read it. Because its so long I only read about half of it. Many make good points but you have tounderstand that the only way the movie would do well is if there were more LoK fans. Yeah Sure we all are fans, but were nothing compared to fans of Final Fantasy, GTA, Zelda, Halo, and other huge name games. One reason I thought Resident Evil was so good was because Resident Evil was a A+ game that everyone knew about, which ment the develpoers put so much into the movie, trying to bypass the horrible past of Videogame movies. Seriously, I only think there are 3 good movies that we're adapted from games (Console games) Those would be Mortal Kombat (1!!!, 2 sucked) Resident Evil, and.... well i guess only 2 movies.

Im hoping Some of the newly annouced VG movies will do well, like Metroid or BlooRayne. Expecailly Bloodrayne as its Vampirisim may inspire a good outlook for a possible LOK movie. Though I still cant wait For Resident Evil: Apacolypes (sp) as its going to bring in Jill and Carlos and I finally get to see a Live version of Nemesis. Seriously. I cant think of one videogame character scarier than him, He's the only thing aside from the floor drop in the library in RE2 that actually scared me in a video game. Uhh.. I remember the 1st time i played RE3. I just got the Lockpick and the Magnum, im walking down the stairs of the Police Station...... Crash!!! AAAHHHHH!! SSS.TTT.AAA.RRRR.SSS.!!! RRRRAAAARRRGGGHH!!!!!! AHHH!! Run away Jill! RUN AWAY!!!!!

Red face

I always crap myself when I hear the Nemesis say his most famous line: "S.T.A.R.S"
Seriously, that game series , along with Silent Hill, is the best cure for constipation. Best played on the toilet.

Don't run away, Bobman. Fight it. You get rewards if you defeat him. Stress the word 'if'. I fight him and win enery time, and ended up with 2 new guns (but they're kinda crap). Oh yeah, don't forget the thing that lets you carry 3 first aid sprays in one store space. Have I forgotten anything?

Even though we are sliding from the original topic, DUDE how can you ignore the fact that Resident Evil 1 is amazing for its day. Sure the dialogue and the voice characters are beyond amateurish but still... that and Resident Evil 2 were great. I think the actual film ruined that game series though. Remember the first line from Albert Wesker and think amateur, "Jill, dont open that door", that always makes me laugh. The guy who did his voice should be sued let alone fired from doing anything else entailing voice acting... take a leaf out of Michael Bell's book. Raziel's dialogue as well as vocal reaction to the events in Defiance were incredible. I was moved in "Vengeance and Sacrifice" the 2nd time I saw it when he chose to sacrifice himself. But when he says that "two soul reavers together" sounded a little weird. I have noticed he tries to mix his accent with British and American and tends to sound weird sometimes particularly in SR2. The way he pronounces Nosgoth or certain words. He says it like "Nasgath". I thought core blimey, is that Raziel or Michael's personal accent intervention seeping through ?

Were was Jill Valentine, Barry Burton, Albert Wesker, Chris Redfield, Rebecca Chambers or Enrico Marini ? The film doesnt do the game series justice at all. They completely skipped Resident Evil 1 and 2 and immediately decide - "ooh, lets bring on the NEMESIS!". Alice ? If Milla stopped concentrating on her damn dress and her lack of sex appeal she was supposed to introduce (clearly didnt) she might have worried about the actual story line instead of seduction. And who was Rain ? Where does Paul Anderson pull this crap out from... some funky black hat nobody knows about. Never the less I liked the film as a stand alone but it had absolutely nothing to do with the game series at all. The fact they stopped making Resident Evil for the PC too is kick in the side too. I wanna get Resident Evil 0 and 4 for the PC, dont think it will happen .

PEACE OUT !!!

PS @Redeemer/Destroyer: I almost crapped myself too, hearing that STARRRRRRRS line and those Robocop stomps . Just gives me chills down my spine. I almost scream trying to evade him. His punches do make me laugh though... booof.... and Jill flies backwards and almost gets knocked for six .

Anyone played Outbreak online?

I want to hear if it's anygood, just the online play though - us Europeans are getting the short straw again and not having online play.

I can't imagine how good the single player would be though, I mean... the whole point of it being online is so that you could go through it as a zombie (that is, if you got bitten/chewed/munched on).

It wouldn't be much fun for both ourselves and the plot if we were zombies throughout...

I loved the Resident Evil series, though I'm afraid that a quaint little town which goes by the name of Silent Hill now has that special place in my heart!

I loved the original Resident Evil, and I loved Resident Evil 2 even more. Resident Evil 3, although not at good as the second game, was still fantastic. In addition to those, I bought Resident Evil Code: Veronica X and the Gun Survivor titles (which I love! Am I the only one?! ). I bought a Gamecube and I own the Resident Evil Remake as well as Resident Evil 0, and I also found those games enjoyable (who didn't enjoy visiting the new and improved Aqua Ring?! ).

However, I have to say that the Resident Evil movie is utter tripe. As a standalone movie, with no relation to Resident Evil, it might've been okay, but as a part of the Resident Evil series it is, quite frankly, shocking.

The director Paul Anderson and the cast tried to "remain as close to the original idea of Resident Evil as possible". Apparently they "all played the games for hours on end" in order to get a feel for the atmosphere and characters of the series...

This is the biggest load of bull I've heard in a long time. There are many things in the Resident Evil movie which contradict the already established facts found in the game series. This'll no doubt sound lame, but I really got into the games, so excuse the "know-it-all" attitude...

In the games, the T-Virus was green. In the movie, the T-Virus was blue and the antivirus was green.

In the games, a Licker is created when a zombie receives a double dose of the T-Virus, presumably after having been snacked upon by another T product. In the movie, a Licker is created by injecting the T-Virus directly into living tissue.

In the games, Raccoon City is a mid-western town in the US, with a population of approximately 100, 000 people. In the movie, we only catch a glimpse of Raccoon City, though what we do see is a street line with tall metal and glass tower blocks which stand out against the architecture found in the game series like a sore thumb!

In the game series, the T-Virus was specifically created for use as a bio-weapon. In the movie, the T-Virus was initially created in order to revive dead cells which, after having seen a trailer for Resident Evil Apocalypse, it seems is going to be used in beauty products in order to combat aging etc.

Need I say any more...?

Oh, that, and Nemesis seems to know martial arts in Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Apparently he and Alice, that one from the first movie, have a martial arts showdown at some point!

Anyway, I thought things'd gotten worse after seeing the "new and improved" Resident Evil 4, though after having seen a trailer and having seen the game in action, I am looking forward to it immensely. Hopefully the series can recover from the damage done by the Resident Evil movies...

Oh, and for those who're interested, Resident Evil Outbreak File 2 has been announced! Go to www.the-magicbox.com for more info!

Raccoon City Zoo, here we come!

HEHEHE Go RAZ

I agree with raz on this, if RE:TM had been called something else i would have enjoyed it a whole lot more. they got a load of things wrong. but the main one was when the Licker turned into the Hunter.

Um like what happened there?????

The licker is made as Raz said.
The Hunter was made by injecting the T virus into Amphibaians (ie frogs)

so have no idea what happened there.

Oh well.

and RE4 loks way cool. Zombies are smart. looks like Umbrella have finally made what they set out to.

wow I started a thread i didnt even mean to create

Personaly I loved all the RE games that were real re games (no gaiden survivor, ect) Im not saying that the RE games are bad when i said i sold them, i just mean unless its someting i love for some reason, i usually sell a game after i beat it. Aside from the PSX RE1 ive owned them all at some time. aside from 0. I never had it. i rented it and got about 2 hours in. only one i havent beat. Im actually been regrating that i sold the RE GC version for the last few months as i want to play another RE game, aside from 3 for the 100th time.

I loved the movie, but i was disappointed that they didnt have a "Tyrant" Monster, and used an evolved licker. I felt cheated there (BTW the Tyrants are: Tyrant:T-OO1, Willaim-G, Mr.X, Nemesis, Tyrant: T-OO5 (RE:CV) Alexia-X and Lisa (REmake) also a tyrant from 0 if there is one)

I dont know. I think RE1 is self explainitory and doesnt need to be a movie. The RE movie actually originaly was going to be off one. The Script is online, I suggest you read it if you have time. Its like a good book. There was also a Script a fan wrote of the 1st game, that was actually really good and capcom almost used it before switching to the movie that we know of. I actually like the fact that the Movie is RE3. Its the only one I really still have questions about the story. I mean yeah we know how the T-Virus startyed, but i still wonder how it got into the city if the Mansion was Blown Up, also I wonder how the hell they made Nemesis to have him only attack STARS members. I mean Its not like he's a robot they can program commands to. Plus the fact that Barry and rebecca disappered (but that gets cleared up if you read the Exellent Novels baised of the series.) I think it would be cool if the movie was BOTH RE2 and 3 because they do take place at the same time. (RE2 starts when Jill gets to the Police Station.)

Anyway. As some side notes, Everyone if they have time should track down those scripts and read them. Also Read the Books there are 6 of them and they're only about 6 bucks each. They're easy to find too. They're Written by S.D. Perry. The Novals are for 1, 2, 3 and CV:X, plus 2 more seperate Novals. Both of the seperate Novals use characters from thegame (one involves Rebecca, which was the worst book of the 6, and one involves almost all the characters but Rebecca, which was actually the best book aside from the one baised of the 1st game) The Books also go deep into Umbrealla's Labs and you do find out some pretty interesting things that you wont find in the games.
I personally cant wait for the Next RE Movie and i hope it will be as good as the 1st.

I too was disappointed to find that the movie didn't feature a "Tyrant" of some sort...

By the way, the Tyrant series includes:

The Prototype Tyrant - Resident Evil 0

T-002 - Resident Evil

"Mr. X" (code number unknown) - Resident Evil 2

"Nemesis" - Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

Hypnos Tyrant - Resident Evil Gun Survivor (I)

T-075 (or is it T-078?!) - Resident Evil Code: Veronica

T-091 - Resident Evil Dead Aim (Gun Survivor IV)

Female Tyrant type (Morpheus D. Duvall injected himself with the T-G Virus, causing him to gain electrical properties and change sex) - Resident Evil Dead Aim

The following aren't of the Tyrant series:

Lisa Trevor isn't a Tyrant. She was a guinea pig for numerous experiments. As she has been injected with numerous virus types, she has become strong to the extent of being invunerable to gunfire.

William Birkin is a G-type. A Tyrant is created via experimentation with the T-Virus. William birkin injected himself with the G-Virus, and so turned into a G-type.

Alexia is a tricky one... She did inject herself with the T-Veronica Virus, though I'm not sure whether or not she is actually a Tyrant as such.

The outbreak in Raccoon City was caused by two things.

Firstly, not all of the infected beings from the mansion (eg. zombies, dogs etc.) were destroyed in the explosion. They eventually made their way into Raccoon City, lingering near the city limits and grabbing the occasional snack...

Secondly, the team Umbrella Inc. sent in to retrieve a G-Virus sample from William Birkin messed up. After William birkin had injected himself with the G-Virus sample he had managed to protect, he killed the team who stole his work. He consumed the G-Virus samples which were in the case they were carrying, and he crushed the vials containing the T-Virus. These samples were then consumed by rats in the sewers which then began to infect the citizens of Raccoon City.

"Nemesis" is a more intelligent form of Tyrant and, as such, has enough intelligence to follow orders. Umbrella Inc. developed the "Nemesis" parasite in order to create more effiecient B.O.W.'s (Bio Organic Weapons).

I also own the novels, though they're not canon. They are nothing more than fan-fiction, hence the numerous contradictions which can be found throughout. I still enjoy them though...

As I said before, the first Resident Evil movie failed to impress me, and I think that Paul Anderson should be strung up from his... well, you get the idea. I dread to think how the second movie'll turn out, though I know I'll go to see it because of the fact it's "Resident Evil"!

Oh, and I have read some of the earlier scripts for the Resident Evil movie, and in my opinion they're no better than the final product!

ah the rats! i knew i was forgeting something. 10 minutes after i posted my topic i was thinking that i remembered to forgot something of why one of my questions was.

Anyway. I know William isnt a true Tyrant, as he's a Gyrent i guess but If i remember right, one of the files in CV said somethign about it, and so did wesker in a bonus CVX scene. I think he said it in the wesker report too.

As for Lisa, i know she wasnt a true tyrant i just remember IGN or someone saying that how much she was injected with experiments i basicly made her into one. Though I thought she was rather disapointing. The Media kept saying "oh!! Theres a new Nemesis like creature that will pop up from time to time and scare the crap outta you!" She shows up 2.5 times. Once in her cabin, Once in the tunel, and once at the elevator, though its really the .5 because what happens next depends on whether you want Barry to die or not.

always nice to see a discussion on the series that spawned my namesake! =p

The games are great, though I think capcom should wrap it up just about now (the 'formula' is getting a little tired). Code Veronica is just messed up. Dyin' to play re: outbreak and also get a gamecube on the cheap to pick up zero and the remake. (and also for twin snakes...). I think the gas masked umbrella special ops need to make a return already! =p

As for the movie....well it's an interesting take on the RE universe from a movie perspective...there were little throw ins to the games now and then which I liked, but that whole 'security laser' scene almost ruined the movie for me, it's a gigantic hole in the plot, was stupid and really - it's a zombie movie, I wanna see people getting munched on, none of this laser nonsense. Hopefully Resident Evil Apocalypse, the sequel, will be better. They were filming some of it here in Hamilton and well, let's say I like what I saw. (seriously influenced by the Re3 opening movie, firefights AHOY!).

Quote:
Secondly, the team Umbrella Inc. sent in to retrieve a G-Virus sample from William Birkin messed up.
not so! Hunk was too bad*** to mess up. Those other dudes were just there to get chopped in half, he was the one doing the work. *beams proudly* =p
best mini-character ever, seriously.

tah!

Obligatory editorial comment on the RE series: Tofu: Neither a toe, nor a foo'. Coincidence? I think not.

Although it remains the most screwy way to play through the game, IMO.

Discuss.

I suggest you watch the Flash Movie "I am Resident Evil" By the One and only Joseph Blanchette (AKA Legendary Frog.) Click Kerrigan in my Sig to go to his Video page on his site. If you have time, id watch the Flash Intro of RE1, but i warn you. that one ios pretty long.

Oh, of course... how silly of me! It couldn't be Hunk who messed up! He simply is a dude... it was all of the other fools he was with!

So, Hunk takes the lead as the best sub-character ever with Tofu a close second! (though Annette Birkin just does something for me! It's always the "mad scientist" types or the ones with guns... )

Anyway, if Paul Anderson takes the second movie the same direction he took the first, I think I'll be disappointed. It was loads of gunfights and stuff which contributed greatly to spoiling the first movie. In which Resident Evil game have you ever had a highly trained team of soldiers taking on the zombie masses? Umbrella Inc.'s lot don't count... they don't last long enough to actually be much help!

Oh, and Paul Anderson really needs to invest more in his special effects department...

I know! Im kinda happy about it to since RE is one of my favorite series. Probably number 4, With Kain, MGS, and Zelda in front of it.

I just rented Prince of Persia, and Man, it is hellagood! IMO its better than Ninja Gaiden which i also have. I dont know tho cause i dont like Ninja gaiden. Its to bad cause i want to ply Gaiden but i cant get into it.

Someone suggest a song I should play, or one i should download off iTunes before my free song pepsi caps expire on the 30th.
