There are a few Emulators about, but I'm not willing to post links as I'm not sure if it's a no-no.

As I understand, Emu's are legal, unless you don't own a system. If Umah says it's Ok, I will give you some links.

(PS: I sometimes prefer playing some older games on the PC, since it has extra features. EG Recording some Video, etc.)

well, i have a PSx, PS2, and all the LOK games, so its not illegal, as i do own the originals. you can PM me the links, but yeah, you should ask umah first. i asked her about something like this about a month ago, but it5 was about CD's and she said it was ok, as long as it was in a PM. I dont see why not, but you SHOULD ask her to make sure. Thanx BTW

Exclamation

Actually, emulation is not entirely legal. According to a recent revision to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act:

Quote:
Computer programs protected by dongles that prevent access due to malfunction or damage and which are obsolete.
Computer programs and video games distributed in formats that have become obsolete and which require the original media or hardware as a condition of access. A format shall be considered obsolete if the machine or system necessary to render perceptible a work stored in that format is no longer manufactured or is no longer reasonably available in the commercial marketplace.

Because you can still play PSX games on the backwards compatible PS2, they are not classified as being obsolete, and therefore not legal to emulate.

I would also like to remind the participants of this thread to review this tidbit as soon as it is convenient for you to do so. It is imperative that this type of discussion be kept off the boards as we've requested or you will be subjecting yourself to the enforcement of the Terms of Use of Our Community.

Thanks.
