Hello everyone.
I am very interested in your opinion. What do you think about the game when you have completed it. Please do not write big texts, try to bi laconic, only main things that you liked and what didn't. Please vote on poll. I liked the game. Graphics, camera, script, animation, voice acting - it all was great, but atmosphere has changed dramatically, I suppose it is because of that we are not just in "vampire revenge story" game anymore, but in "entire world saving game". We do not have only good and bad side and the one that wins will dominate, but we have aboslutely two different sides that both are right in some situations [of course Kain and Raziel are the most right ones]. Great evalution of script I think it was the right and most interesting thing to do. What are your thoughts about it ?

the ending was definitely awesome because it answered almost all of the questions I had, and even when you nit-pick at it, you find out more..I mean, look at how much Dogfight has interpolated into such depth...
bah, all I have to see is that the ironic twists are awesome and their are like no plot holes, the story is deeply analyzed, cherished and full of love, you can tell there is a lot of dedication. What I also really love about the ending is that if worse comes to worse, it can end at this spot, but then again, the story can continue w\ more twists and what not. |

I loved the way the ending worked out, since it left me for once with very few ideas about how the future game would go. We're almost at the end of Blood Omen and a true ending, yet its left open for the future.
What I disliked were the lack of decent controller codes, no special reavers, nothing of that sort. Also the lack of the Soul Reaver for Kain for the majority of the game, just like in BO2. |

The ending was unlike that of any game, it was exceptional, a true conclusion. Defiance really did bring the original series Blood Omen and its spin off Soul Reaver together into one game. This is something extraordinary, which has been overlooked, because it has never been done before in video game history. Besides this it concluded those two series, whatever the next will be, whatever will happen in it, I can surely say that Blood Omen and Soul Reaver are finally concluded, but the Legacy of Kain will continue.

By the way, I forgot to say that I see Raziel now as a martyr with great will and sense of rightousnes, which he retained partially from Sarafan times, but in the "right" way. I respect this character now more then ever. He knew what he should do then it should be done even if cost was his life. And his last words to Kain "I was always your right hand, your sword" just left me without my own words. And another thing was that I respect Kain much much more now. He is a good character on the bad path and absolutely the path that he didn't chose. So I see him as cold hearted, but "right" one and one that can appreciate others, who realy deserve it, like Raziel...

You know the marketing Campaign for Blood Omen 2 was ridiculous, saying that "OH LOOK AT KAIN HES SO EVIL", thats not how it is when you play Defiance, you really see a change and maturity growing in Kain.
All hail Kain. |

I loved tha game all the way through. Although, I found the game relied upon the new-and-improved combat system to get you through the first 30-40% of the game, before the story pulls you in. I feel once the story has got you, you keep feeling a stronger pull right until the ending, where it answers many questions, and leaves you feeling complete.
IE. I loved the Ending :P |

I loved the ending. There was a closure, but still base for continuing the story.

I played for over 4 hours. The game ended for me when Raziel still fell into the mist near the beginning of chapter 2. No way to get past it, because of the stupid cinematic camera. Impossible to control Raziel. Took a couple of hours just to get Kain past the water near the end of Chapter 1.
Such a terribly disappointing game. ![]() Returned for full refund. |

The ending was good, but you know what made it really disappoint at the same time?
NO EPILOGUE >_< When I beat a game I like to sit back and watch a nice fulfilling cinematic sequence. ![]() It's just what I prefer. |

Have you watched the Dark Chronicle?
There is the last game cutscene + Epilogue.

I had that, too. I thought it was just me, that I had hit a button and skipped the epilogue. As long as I didn't miss anything...
This was a really great game. I was a bit nervous at the beginning with all of the camera complaints I had read, and some were definitely warranted, but I didn't have too much of a problem with it. Everything clicked into place and fit perfectly, except for the things intentionally left out for the next game. Definitely worth the wait and aggravation finding a PC version! I eagerly await the next installment. P.S. I didn't experience any real bugs, just an occassional "Oh, my arm is in the wall!" that didn't affect gameplay in the least. Thanks Crystal, Eidos, and everyone else who contributed! |

BTW, you still didn't say where you purchased the game that gave you a full refund, since 100% of game stores will not accept opened merchandise unless it's for replacement of a defective copy (same game). Anyway, please don't post stuff like this anymore. You didn't reach the ending, and this thread is obviously only for those who have beaten the game, so your post is pretty much....well, ignorant, to be blatant. If you hated the game so much, I fail to see your reasoning in staying at this board, which is dedicated to said game. And let me also say before going, that your closemindedness has cost you a great conclusion to a huge part of the series, and I'm sorry if you played the other games and have truly given up because of some difficulty in adjusting to a camera, of all things. -Corey |

The game ruled IMO, excellent gameplay, even though I find fighting a bit tedious from time to time, would maybe have wanted one or two more bosses, but I suppose the story didn't really warrant it.
Liked the game through and through, but I didn't like some choice Raziel did as he closed in on the end, first he ripped out Kains heart without blinking, and then he didn't kill Janos in time! It was simply incomprehensible! However, he turned out allright in the end anyway. A bit dissappointed that this game as well left an opening for a sequel, in the sense that the pillars still were ruined, and that the Hylden still could be able to return. Would very much want more closure to the game, but at least the games ending wasn't as frustrating as that of Soul Reaver II, and as far as I can recall Blood Omen 2s story doesn't really coincide much with Soulreavers nor Defiances. Another thing that irritated me to no end was that people seemed to forget what happened in the earlier games. I mean, even in Soul Reaver II Kain tells Raziel not to use the heart of darkness on Janos, but in Defiance Kain doesn't seem to realize this until he charge inside the cathedral. Anyway, the Camera sucked, the hardest parts of the game was the part when you jumped the pillars in voradors mansion in order to cross the courtyard, and when you tried to get out of the elder gods lair as Raziel in Chapter II. The rest was a walk in the park. Last edited by Umah Bloodomen; 12-27-2003 at 08:36 PM. |

i am quite satisfied with the ending. In fact, this is the only game other than BO1 that has an ending that does not leave the players with more questions than answers. i hate the ending of SR2

I really loved the story, finally some answers! I do believe that among the LOK crew are some of the best storytellers in the gaming community. Truly awesome job, but...
As of the game, i didn't really liked it that much. I just ended it because of the awesome story and atmosphere. That was the only thing that kept me going, if it had other characters and a lame story, i would have quit in the middle. It is too repetitive, the controls are very unintuitive, the camera angles make some situations near-impossible and (did i say this before?) TOO REPETITIVE I really like the whole saga and the characters, they are awesome, among the best ever created for a VG (for any format, as i can tell) but this game disappointed me. I hope they make a different game next time, because i know it's not over :POh, and maybe a book? Not only that would be great reading, it would clarify some minds out there. All In all, this saga is among my favorites, and this game is not bad, just...could be more fun to play. Another RPG (hmm semi-rpg) like BO:LOK would be very nice. To end the series in glory.

though i loved the game, there were only a few problems, though i actually liked the camera, the only thing i didnt like about it is when it switched to a view where theres a big pillar or a corner of a wall right in the way. i think they should have just made those obstructions transparent when they showed up.
As far as raziel's ending, you have to realize, there is NO other way Crystal could NOT do that, atleast not in this game. SR2's ending said that raziel WILL enter the blade SOMEDAY. they couldnt just end it. thats the entire reason raziel has the reaver to begin with. and this thread is marked for people who beat the game and saw the ending, so if you read this and spoil the ending for yourself, its your own fault for even coming n this thread. Actually for a next game idea, id rather it not take place in nosgoth or star Kain. I would like it to be take place in the hyldan world of the damned, and you control Janos. Because as of so far in the story, this is the only element that has yet to be answered. well that and vorador's apperance in blood omen 2, but i really dont think a detail like that can be written to follow a whole game. but Janos is the only part with out an ending. period. the Hyldan become banished 200 years later in Blood omen 2, Raziel entered the sword, all the chronoplast visions came true in someway or another. though turel in defiance could be explained in this next Janos hylden game, as avernus worshipoers were the hyldan, and it was most likely azumonth (cant think of her name, but the demension guardian in BO1) who brought them there, as she used Mobius' stolen streaming device to get monsters from other times, instead of just more of the same from other dimensions as she was a Hash-sha-gikk worshipper, along with Mortainius. |

Awesome game!! Eidos should send me a check cause I feel like I punched in and worked double overtime playing this game
. Not to mention the additional grey hairs I developed while being stuck in Voradors Mansion. I think he should get a game of his own, he would be one bad mofo to control!
