Default Mako Scientist Bug

As nobody on the general forum seems to know how to deal with this I have to assume that this may be a bug.

The scientist in this area is not in the room where he is apparently supposed to be, so I can't complete the WTO quest. He is instead standing outside the guard room on the floor below. No biggy, I thought, I will just kill him and complete the Order quest. Trouble is, I've killed him and the quest is not showing as done. Can't get out of the area, can't move on in the game, nothing left to do, nowhere to go. I can get through the room with the keypad in the upper area, but there is nothing in there to interact with.

Bummer. Game over.

Just in case anyone is interested and would like to correct this, this is definitely a bug. The second time through this level, as soon as I walked into the Mag Rail room, the scientist dialogue started.

In my first trip through Mako there was no scientist at all in the Mag Rail room, ever, so no wonder I couldn't resolve either quest.

Yeah I was wondering why there was a random scientist standing there, however the doc was in the mag-rail room the first time I went in there and completed the WTO mission. However, I wanted to try something so I reloaded my save. When I came back in the room, the doc was gone, his office was locked, and the glass around the mag-rail was open even though I reloaded a save from before talking to the doc.

That a bug too or that something the game does? Very odd

Most likely a bug. Since I do not see a reason that it would occure on your particular machine, there probably was a random error while copying the files. I would reccomend to back up your saves, reinstall the game, and then load the game from some point before you entered the Mako Ballistics Interior for the first time.

I had the same error as well.

The scientist outside the guardroom isn't the same scientist; there should be a second one in the room where the mag rail is.

I did a reload as well and he just disappeared. The only quest you can complete then is the WTO one where you steal the mag rail.

Definitely a bug that SHOULD HAVE SHOWED UP IN PLAYTESTING, and maybe been fixed before it went on the market.

When I got to the level, the first time, the scientist was there, but I saw the SSC guard, & went in w/ guns blazing, not seeing the bot there. I didn't know they were regarding me as friendly.

Every reload after that, no scientists were even NEAR that sector, I couldn't do anything to complete the WTO or Order Church objectives.

I finally got pissed off & started throwing boxes around. By some fluke, it knocked the Mag Rail THROUGH the glass onto the ground. (I had no way to open the glass. In every save, that upstairs/overlook room where the magrail is was always locked, and I couldn't find a keycode.)

In my game, with no scientist, I got into the locked room by throwing an explosives box at the door - it opened bit by bit. But there was no scientist in there, either. I never tried hurling the explosives box at the Mag Rail, though.

Of course, now my game crashes each and every time I try to load it, and from any game save, so I guess I'm not meant to finish this game.

Although that is exactly what I said about DE1.....sigh

I sometimes think life would be easier if I just watched television.

Exact same thing happened to me! I spent at least an hour running around, wondering what the was going on. Finally, I said screw it, I'll just restart the mission... and wouldn't you know, the scientist was where he's supposed to be.

Definitely a bug
