Ok, I just installed the patch, and I seem to have lost sound. Other games and programs still run sounds fine, and 30 or so minutes before I installed the patch DX:IW was going fine too. Otherwise the patch installed fine and everything seems to run normally. Anyone else have this problem? Here is how it goes...
I start the game and it starts to run those intro videos, which have sound then at some point they just stop and it falls to desktop for a few seconds before pulling up the main screen, which exists without any sounds at all, no music, no button sounds. The Audio tab is still normal, volumes up to full, and as I said, other applications are able to run with sound. If I load a save--same thing, no sound. |

Ok, I figured out what I had done to kill the sound...earlier I had gone into the sound folder and changed the .csc files to .a files (as a means of reducing load times--mine went from 3-4 minutes on average to 15 seconds on average!!).
So, I reinstalled the game and then reinstalled the patch, and then made the file changes...no sound...so I put them back. So now I have sound again, but I also have 3-4 minute load times. What gives? why would the patch affect this, and does anyone have any ideas on cutting back load times, since they are apparently unnecessary I guess I should just roll back to 1.0, but I like the fixes. Damn damn damn
