Default Custom Animation Ranges (A little help?)

1. Games with the Quake 3 Engine use a different kind of animation for textures. I got this one two-texture set that is of stone with runes on it, and in that game, the runes glow. There are two textures I have, one of the original stone texture (with non-glowing runes), and one that is black (Quake 3 transparency, equivalent to TR's absolute purple.) With glowing runes and no stone. Those are the only textures I have to work with, and I want the stone texture's runes to animate slowly into the black texture's glowing runes, but I don't want the black of course, I just want the glowing runes in place of the dull runes on the stone, and I want the runes to slowly animate into the glowing ones and back, all on the same lighted stone... Is this possible?

2. Also, from the same game, I have metallic textures that are the right size for making 2 doors. I wanted to re-texture the two doors with the dragon on them (that open inwards oppositely) from floating islands, so I made a .bmp image of the door, which was the same size and position of where the door textures were in the floating islands textures, and I also added the siding textures from the floating bmp to the custom bmp. I made a new wad with just the two doors I wanted from floating islands, and brought it into STRPIX3. I loaded in the wad, and went to import the new bmp, which was the same size, dimensions, etc. as the original. I had the textures in the same places, but I got a bunch of errors... Is this possible?

Thanks,
-Chronicles5

only thing I can think of is to use a paint prog to produce interim stages of glow so that when animated the full sequnce happens.

ie

no glow
slight glow
more glow
even more glow
lots of glow
full glow

you could copy/paste the pic and make as many as you need, making each one progressively darker and then reverse the sequence.

hope this is of help

You can get lots of trouble by placing only the doors in the wad. It's best to use the 'original' wad. Don't know if this is causing the problem, but it might.

thanx both, i dont know if i can do that in paint, because the effect i want is a certain glow, but i can try... And Collin, I already tried using the original floating wad, but the doors came out fuzzy and I couldn't texture them right. Help?

For glowing you can also use the amber light object close to your texture but the speed from bright to dark is to high I think.
